I think prototype is the best word. The source material for WWW.Working!! predates the source material for the first series, so calling the former a sequel or spinoff seems odd in terms of chronology. And prequel won't work as there isn't really any indication where this relates to the first anime in terms of the timeline. The idea is similar but seemed more polished in Working!! so calling it a prototype seems like the best to me. Alternative setting could also work. Now, WWW.Working, if the second and third eps are any indication, could become as polished as Working!! but we'll see.

I dunno, I can already se some storylines beginning to take form, if the author chose to do so. And while 3 episodes as more going on than the first season of Working!!, it killed me that they left some good jokes/jabs out on the first episode.

I was actually impressed that the guy who plays the character coming back from America learned to speak his few lines so he sounds American. I think it's the best accent I've ever heard in anime.

Anyway, I'm happy to get a lighthearted show to relax and laugh with. It's not great but it's always enjoyable to me.

So far, the 3rd episode was show's strongest, with moments like Shindō Yūta's "I'm glad it isn't just me this time," Higashida Daisuke creating misunderstanding about Miyakoshi Hana's visits to his house, and the scenes with Yanagiba Miri.

I'm just happy there is another season which follows a similar formula to Working!!! Also, I fanboi'd when Sota Takanashi makes a cameo at the beginning of Ep.1 so I'm willing to accept this show happens in the same time/town as the original.

This week's deadpan analysis read like Muranushi was writing it. Paul, please don't try to smile.

This franchise has always been founded on frustrating character dynamics, but if the Adachi/Muranushi impasse went on for another episode, I don't think I could take it. What's good about the original manga being short and already finished is that the relationships progress a lot faster than in the other Working!! series.

Ep 11,

I'm pretty sure Shio has changed for the better now, the fact that she was telling him to pay back the money quickly at the end was so that the debt wouldn't be keeping them apart (he said they couldn't be equals so long as he owes her dad money). The fact that she was blushing and stuttering gives it away.

Also, I wanted to see more of that scene with Miyakoshi's mom.

My opinion of the series and how it relates to the original is the same as the beginning of this thread. It still seems to me a prototype which was perfected in the story adapted by the previous anime. Spiritual successor still seems incorrect when the material for the first is both the conceptual and spiritual successor of the material for this anime.

If you want to sum up this post then let me save you some time:

1. I was thoroughly entertained by the ending to www.working 10/10.
2. I think its much much better then the first one.
3. I don't understand the reasons people give for the first one having depth.

If you really want to go in-depth then here is the full version:

The show www.working started off with the same basic comedic premise as its predecessor working (Needless to say when it started I began rolling my eyes). ( Premise: A group of guys and girls working part time at a restaurant, And while not always the case (Yamada ) the plot consisted of the male cast stuck in unfortunate situations due to their female counterparts.)

However www.working uses this as the reference point to complete its casts shortcomings.
95% of the mysteries of the series are solved and the other 5% is simply left for me to wonder about in spare time. The show was an Emotional Roller coaster of laughs and cringes. But it evened out and left me with a big smile at the end. You could not have ended this Anime any better while staying true to its characters and style. 10/10

Its Predecessor on the other hand was also a roller coaster but its fatal flaw for me was that while it did have its highs its lows were way too low. I'm talking about the complete Emasculation and Humiliation of Souta Takanashi our leading man. I'm not talking partial here I'm talking about complete Humiliation and Emasculation. I understood his reasons for liking small and cute things. But his backstory was sad and I'm genuinely surprised he didn't have Gynophobia. It was never explained why he was so level headed about everything. What purpose did it serve us to watch over and over as he is degraded by female characters.

This was the Major drawback that still pops into my mind whenever I think of the working series.

I also don't understand what other commentators mean when they say the predecessor had more depth. Depth of what? www.working had more character growth , and more satisfactory romances and relationships than its predecessor. With it taking only 1/2 the time to do it.

If you disagree and can explain this depth please do.
