Darn, I was hoping one of the Nozomi titles would be my all-time favorite series, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor. Not that I need it to be there, I just want others to discover it.

Hooray more fodder titles that offers absolutely nothing substantial. Thanks CR, you rock.

Well, some of the Nozomi series in there (Magic User's Club, Tamayura) are among my all-time favorites. Not everyone shares your opinions or only wants the latest titles. I've had a good time going back and checking out some underappreciated gems I've missed over the years, and I hope others get a chance to as well when streaming sites like Crunchyroll expand their back catalog in this manner.

It's kinda weird how Crunchyroll is adding the Japanese version of Cat Planet Cuties to their catalog after the rights to stream the show expired due to Funimation licensing it after Crunchyroll initially simulcasted the show under its original Japanese name.

Not that I'm complaining, I didn't intend to. I just find the whole thing to be very interesting.

Crunchyroll actually used both the original title and a different English adaptation: "Bombshells from the Sky". And there series page is still the same on that point at the moment (no mention of Cat Planet Cuties) In addition to that, there are some cases like Barakamon and Lord Marksman and Vanadis in which they've always streamed the series but it was not available in the typical English territories that FUNi has the rights to.

One other thing to note is that unlike FUNimation, Crunchyroll doesn't update their streams from the initial simulcast broadcast version to the home video version. Assuming FUNimation continues to pull down their subtitled streams that are migrating to Crunchyroll, there won't be any way to watch the home video version streamed in Japanese going forward (more stark in cases like Cat Planet Cuties and Lord Marksman and Vanadis where there's some broadcast censorship).

Have the whole collection from the original Media Blasters release. The show is a lot of fun, and one of my best memories from my early fandom. Visually, it may look a bit dated (especially the few CGI segments), but the characters are great and the English dub is a hoot! I re-watched it recently, and (for me at least), it's kept its charm.

This gave me the opertunity to watch Please Teacher! And Please Twins! I thought both where okay and I watched them dubbed. Also gave me an opportunity to finish Magic User's Club! (OAV) and Junjo Romantica. I found Junjo really boring not bad as I like Studio Deen's work and as an example of it's genre it is good but I found it dull .

I had already seen Cat Planet Cuties and Lord Marksman and Vandis when they where streaming originally.

Wait, so the version of Cat Planet Cuties on Crunchyroll is the Japanese TV version?

Of course not everyone shares the same views as me (let alone wanting the latest titles; seriously what gave you that idea?), that goes without saying. However, I'm merely expressing my thoughts no matter how you look at it, I suggest you don't try twisting them into something else. At least there is one thing I agree with: other people should get a chance to see some new great shows from the past as CR expands their library (if only they'd go for more interesting series like Baccano and Spice & Wolf, that would be a miracle).

Well, what if those titles were announced and I came into the Talkback thread raining on people's parade by unconstructively criticizing them? (I do rather like Baccano, though, for what it's worth) Sorry, it rubs me the wrong way when people do that. But that's the end of my discussion on the matter.

FUNi's deal with Crunchyroll means most of their titles will be headed that way. Spice & Wolf is pretty likely to happen at some point as long as there aren't any restrictions with FUNi's license preventing that from happening. Baccano would be up to Aniplex. They do sometimes add back catalog to Crunchyroll (like they have been doing with Fullmetal Alchemist), so it's possible.

Let me jump in for a second. There is a difference between expressing an opinion and pointlessly trolling/baiting a thread. Your post here Kon'Doriano is the latter. If you have zero interest in a topic you actually do not have to go into that thread simply to bait others with pointless criticism that is only there to rile people up. You can in fact just ignore that topic that does not interest you and move onto one that does.

Yes. I just checked it again to make certain. (Anyone wanting to confirm it for themselves can go to episode 8 ["We Had a Duel"] at around the 11 minute mark).

At least for this title, CR is keeping the version they already had. I suspect the same might be true for the other titles they already had rights to in other countries, but they aren't quite as easy to find something in I recall as censored. (Lord Marksman and Vanadis would probably be the best bet among those).

One question I had raised before is if CR will be getting the simulcast or home video versions of titles they never had before, but I don't know that any of those have had any easily detectable differences thus far. What would really make that task easy is when Funimation brings over something that was a censor-fest as a simulcast, but which CR hasn't had for any area. (High School DxD is one that comes to mind).

In Vanadis, you can check the first scene in episode 11. Some censorship there in Crunchyroll stream, but it is not censored on both (sub and dub) FUNi streams.
