So is there a way to just get Charmander because I really don't need (or want) the extras. I only want Charmander.

Like Pikachu and Eevee, Charmander (and the Great Ball hoodie, sold separately) will be available in stores. If you can catch him (no pun intended). |

This is correct. The news story should maybe be amended to clarify that it's the set with all the extras (Charmander plus both hoodies, voice box, and card) for the $60ish price tag. Eevee and Pikachu had the same thing, where they got an online-exclusive hoodie when buying the set. All three of them can be purchased in stores with stock, though. |
