This is pretty cool. Depending on how successful this may be, more cafes could be brought to the US.

(Sigh) Another SoCal event....seriously, how about San Francisco sometime?

I'd consider going if they could show a preview as to what the merchandise is that they'll be selling.

Game looks to be largely a repeat of the earlier versions released in the US, just with three new route characters. Not sure if I really want to spend more money on what's largely the same CG cut scenes for the returning characters.

I read festival and immediately though "an outdoors kind of thing"...you know, like a festival. If it's gonna be indoors you might as well just call it a con.

No this is not true, the game has 6 new routes, having a total of 12 now (double than the original game), 3 for characters we already knew from the original game but didn't get a route then, and 3 for new characters. Plus of course it also has the original 6 routes which have been modified or extended, most of the cgs are new or redrawn, the music is new, etc.

Yes you have parts of the old game and the old routes because people love those characters (and wouldn't be Hakuoki otherwise), but you also have new content that amounts as a whole new game on itself. This is why it's released in 2 parts.

I can understand that feeling. Kyoto Winds is half of the initial main story, with the additional fandisc scenes that happened in Kyoto, 6 additional characters routes (Sannan, Yamazaki, Shinpachi + the 3 brand new characters), and some scenes written/changed+added to include all the new characters+events. But... I'm still going to get it because it has two of my favorite seiyuu for the new characters (OnoD and Miyano Mamoru, lol).

It looks like Otomate is planning on more remakes of previous Hakuoki games with the new characters. So some overseas fans are going to be pretty vocal online about wanting more Hakuoki games... Like they have been on Facebook for a few years now? Hakuoki SSL and Shinkai remakes (which Kyoto Winds is part 1 of the 2-part Shinkai remake) has been part of the most requested otome games on Otomate World's Facebook page. (Diabolik Lovers and Brothers Conflict were two other popular demands from fans on their surveys.)

I keep seeing the date the tickets are to go on sale, but not where to purchase them from Crying or Very sad I'd love to snag the box lunch ticket for me and my sister, but only having 60 available sure seems crushing...
