I enjoyed this, and some on 4chan said it's ED was the best of the year it wasn't really anything world shattering but it really didn't try to be. so over all it was a fun way to kill and sometimes that's just enough to make something enjoyable if not good.

Gotta say I was disappointed as I thought we'd be getting more game development-centered interaction. Especially early on when the small drama was specifically about the game (like whether or not Kayo would finish the soundtrack in time for the hurried release or how Seki was going to conclude her meta narrative). After the red-haired girl was introduced pretty much everything started being about Tama's lack of self-confidence in her drawing. Tama is fine as a main character, but I wanted to see much more than just her being coddled by the cast until she can draw. It was really disappointing for me. I wanted to see more from the programming, more from the writing, more from the sound perspective. All we seem to get is the artist side in anime (for an understandable reason) but there is far more to game development than just that. I feel that Stella no Mahou really squandered its setup around halfway through the series. Especially when I know that the manga author is a game creator himself since I've played two of the Stella no Mahou-oriented puzzle games that he has made, so he definitely has more to say for the different facets of game creation than what was portrayed in the anime.

I don't get the complaints about not enough about the game making when it's just a fan made visual novel. Text, pictures, music. The amount of interaction was limited to hitting enter with one or two branch points so there's little difference between this and doujinshi.

The more pro game of Girls of the Wasteland had more complexity than this but even then, most of the tough work there was on the writer. For the SNS games the stories were already written or mostly done so it's all art and music and basic programming. And two of those fully knew what they were doing already.

I really liked the show as I found it quite funny. I'm not quite sure why there has to be something else. Sure, it's always welcome when there is more to it but when the comedy is this good, I don't care.

Just this morning I was looking for reviews of Magic Of Stella and what do we have here? Very timely.

I already had it on my to-watch list, but with a note to look up more review of it. You had me at "iyashikei" Anime smile

I thought this was a good show. It is a fine SoL, though it is no Non Non Biyori (the director and series composition writer of this show also did Non Non Biyori). I wasn't really bothered by the minimal focus on game making aside from the art either. I liked the ED but mostly for the audio.

I agree about the ED, it was very unique in that the visuals were entirely abstract, and the song itself stayed in my brain for months (and now it's back playing in my head again, yay!). I'm really looking forward to Sentai's eventual BD release of this for the textless version of the ED.

I quite liked this one. Certainly not a big, massive hit or anything but some good, clean fun.
Criminally underappreciated while it aired (srsly I know of ONE guy who watched it besides me) but I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to recommend this to people if it wasn't currently airing. Unless I have a good idea that it's exactly their kind of thing.

So nice to see someone mention and review it. Did not anticipate that.

And can we please take a second and appreciate that the OP was called "God Save The Girls"?
