This amazing artist whose arts I perceived as unwatchable at first (to be honest, when first trying to read ristorante paradiso, I felt like throwing the book because I was so turned off by the artwork), but man, now I'm just so hooked, absorbed, and always crave more to see her artwork I think I'm addicted, lol.
Always impressed by how much depth I can feel for a single scene she drew.
I'm somehow drawn to her lines.

Great article.
For me personally, the thing that drew me to Ono's works was the air of maturity about them, which you usually don't see in many popular anime/manga. Her works are definitely aimed at an older demographic, and as someone who is mainly disinterested in shows that primarily star teenagers and that take place in a Japanese highschool setting, Ono's titles are always like a breath of fresh air when I see them.

Plus, she seems to enjoy handsome middle-aged men as much as I do, so that's a benefit for me as well. Anime smile

I first read Not Simple and thought it was great, and her art style is so interesting. It's definitely not for everyone, which is why it gets tweaked a little each time her stuff is adapted to anime.

Her slice of life stuff is nice and often relaxing, though sometimes it can get a bit dull depending on your mood. I know I have to be in a certain mood to read stuff like Gente, because otherwise I get a bit bored by the slow peaceful pace. Which is a shame, because I love her art so much. It's so deceptively simple and so individual.

Something I love about her work is how multicultural it is. It was so surprising for me, as an Australian, to see a character in a manga who is Australian. I believe she's done a lot of traveling (I think she's been to Italy lots?) and she incorporates it into her work, so there's people from all different countries that are important to the plot, rather than background characters whose only quirk is "hey they're American".
