Ooh, adapted by studio MAPPA. They sure got their hands full now.
Been reading the manga for this and it's been a crazy ride. I think the director can make this work and if done right could be quite memorable. |

I love the mangaka's art because they draw the best psycho faces. I think MAPPA will capture that really well.
That said, it's a weird manga, because it's based on playing games that aren't always particularly widespread in the Western audience, so I wonder how many people will actually be interested in it. I mean, there's fanservice but considering how psycho Yumeko is, it's kinda horror too haha. |

The manga is really crazy and the games they play are usually pretty interesting, that and studio MAPPA is in my opinion very good. So I'm honestly pretty excited to see how the anime pans out.

The premise reminds me strongly of Gamble Fish. I doubt it will be as weird or gimmicky, which I have yet to decide is a good thing or not.

Id honestly rather see gamble fish, it was a very similar if not the same premise, but did not take itself quite as seriously and was over the top fun with the likes of John Ohama. |

I very much hope they're not spreading their resources too thin. If Shoukoku no Altair doesn't get the animation and visual quality it deserves I'm going to be really disappointed. |

YES YES YES YES!!! Finally! I was waiting for an anime of this one! Compulsive Gambler is one of my favorite mangas to date! Hopefully with this anime, Yen Press will finaally decide to release the manga in print. I know they have thr license to it already but I really want this in print so I could have a physical copy! This is also being done by a good studio! I can't wait!

Just going by the thumbnail and seeing some of the scanlations, this series is quite dark. Heck, the thumbnail girl looks like a yandere.
