If I had to choose a front-runner for band anime it would be K-ON. Bangdream is OK but nothing that gets me excited every week nor wanting me to buy merch.

Bang Dream isn't exactly doing all that amazing in terms of preorder rankings for home video, but maybe the producer was referring more to the mobile/card games rather than anime since those are what Bushiroad is heavily involved in.

Correction: Bushiroad Head is just trolling. The idol boom is finished because they do not give the streaming rights to the half of the world.

Enough of watching young women pretend to sing. Get ready to watch them pretend to play guitar, too!

I want to be cynical. But then again I don't want to squander things. This means if any Macross series gets a sequel, I can get a Macross 7 sequel. Bring Back the Band!

Whether it is a marketing ploy or messing up with the idol fanbase, this "bold" statement does not have impact. BanG Dream! is doing OK so far but it has not done anything that separates them from other multimedia series aside from being about all-female bands. At this moment, BD! is just a love child of K-On! and Love Live! that has a lot of growing up. I would love to see BD! become a success. Hopefully, there will be a Love Live! x BanG Dream! collaboration someday.

I think this is going to sell modestly or at the required 6-7k amount for another installment or 2 cour second season, that phase ended with K-ON sadly, although I can see male band anime booming though for obvious reasons.

Is is just me, or could "Bushiroad Head" be the name of a Gundam character?

Look, we've all gotta start somwhere. You wanna know how much the first Love Live single sold initially? 400 copies. But it was the anime that brought Love Live all this success and Bang Dream's anime series isn't doing anywhere near as well.

Bang Dream's success at home in Japan has been mild at best as others have already pointed out. As for where it's at in the west, it's actually lower on the Crunchyroll popularity charts than Love Live. Considering Bang Dream is currently airing (In other words, the height of its popularity) and the last episode of the original Love Live aired in 2014, that is embarassingly low. It's one of the least popular shows this season.

All I see in Bang Dream is a half assed series trying to coast off the success of both Love Live and K-On!. Sure it might get decent sales, but there is absolutely no way in hell this is going to be a smash hit. I'll be surprised if anyone even remembers it in a few weeks time.
