As much as I like Pacific Rim, I don't see what makes it qualify as something to post about on an anime news site when you're not also posting about other western things that share japanese influences.

Indeed. The name of the site is news about Japanese Animation. The site is posting news of an American live action film that has some obvious influences from some specific works of Japanese animation from the 70's, but is that enough to qualify? Maybe yes, maybe not.

Which they actually do sometimes, I mean you literally have a list that mentions the top anime references in Anime like sitting on the side.
