This is bara, not yaoi. Most fujos would hate it because the guys aren't hot.

^ that's not very true anymore, this series is pretty popular even among fujoshi and there are a ton of newer bara-oriented male artists with huge female followings.

One of the main characters is a muscular gay man and the author himself is gay and has done many extreme bara works in the past, but this manga isn't a bara. It's a seinen manga that deals with sensitive topics such as discrimination that gay people face in Japan, the death of a loved one, and coming out in a respectable and mature manner and it's so far mostly about a single father of a young girl slowly overcoming his prejudices after his brother dies and his brother's husband visits from Canada. There aren't any sex scenes and there isn't any romance whatsoever between the main male characters.

That's what I said. Yaoi is hentai for straight women, Bara is hentai for gay men.

Oh I don't think so. Bara can be as perverted, obscene, and extreme as it's artists/audience desires and no one raises a finger. They'll even invite them to a college to speak. Meanwhile straight-hentai has to be judged on that dumb sex-positive/misogynistic-ratio, as if they're afraid that people will turn their personal fetishes into a political ideology.
