I love this movie, and this is good, but like...

This and Gosick from FUNi (and with dubs), and K: Missing Kings from Viz, before Akito the Exiled?

You those sayings about pigs flying....? Yeah, there are some Europian wyverns that should be flying, but aren't.

(yes, they spell it Europia in-universe. Don't blame me, blame Sunrise).

While this movie took plenty of creative liberties with the source material, it's still kick-ass and well-done in its own right. It's really too bad it seems they won't be moving forward with doing a second movie, because it definitely set itself up for a continuation, and I was genuinely intrigued to see where the characters were going to go in their journey.

a) taking liberties is not a bad thing and this movie is a great example of why it's obnoxious when fans assume it is necessarily a bad thing.

b) .... it felt sort of complete, at least to me.

Also, Sebastian/Shiori is a lot more shippable than Sebastian/Ciel. I can't ship actual-manga-Sebastian with anyone. He's so beyond everyone else, and he sees them as beneath him. He sees Ciel as just a food source - an entertaining food source, but he's still like a panther playing with his dinner before eating. It's almost the same between him and reapers. This Sebastian is a completely different character, and he's a lot more human. Because of that, I can ship it.
The part at the end between them is really sweet.

Is it gonna be like the live action Death Note movies, where they use the English anime cast to dub these too? Razz

Huh. This wasn't something I'd expect Funi to pick up (although I know they've done so with other live-action movies), but nevertheless, it seems like something interesting. I might see about picking this up and adding it to my collection. It can't be worse than Season 2... can it? Anime hyper

(Although, to be fair, Season 2 wasn't terrible... It wasn't all that great either and its re-watch value is far less than any of the other releases.)
