Yes! I LOVED the previous episodes (though I think I haven't seen anything of season 3 yet).

I've seen a couple of these on Youtube subtitled, but haven't found most of them. If you happen to know where they are, let me know, because I thoroughly enjoyed the one I saw.

You can find them on Daily Motion, where they have the first two seasons and the pilot episode. Season 3 hasn't been translated yet unfortunately, hopefully with Season 4 on the way there'll be more interest and motivation in translating them.

NHK's documentary television series Urasawa Naoki no Manben (roughly translated, "Naoki Urasawa's Manga Exertions")

Morohashi Daikanwa says:
Quote:
【勉】 一 つとめる。 はげむ。

【勉強】 二 學問をはげむ。勉學。

The title of the TV show in Japanese is 『浦沢直樹の漫勉』.
Certainly, one of the meanings of the kanji "勉" itself is "exertion", and the TV show staff may have tried to add the meaning "The manga-ka work hard," or something along those lines to the title. But probably the primary meaning of the "漫勉" (manben) part of the title is "漫画の勉強" (study of manga), and in this context the kanji "勉" in the title is a shortened form of "勉強" (study). Another example of this "勉" as a shortened form of "勉強" is "家勉", which means "to study at home."
Another possible meaning in the multilayered meanings of the title is that the title connotes "漫然と勉強" (to study in a rambling way), a way to modestly describe the TV program.

Dr. Edwin Oldfather Reischauer attended Oberlin College, which Ms. Jennifer Sherman, too, attended. However, Dr. Reischauer studied Japanology also at Harvard, Langues O', Tokyo Imperial University, and Kyoto Imperial University. Neither Kansai Gaidai University nor Temple University Japan. If Ms. Sherman works in a Japan-related field and wants to produce high-quality results, it may be better for her to study Japanology harder like Dr. Reischauer.

Is there anywhere I can watch this on german? Need to sharpen my german skills

On that matter is there any site online where I can watch anything on german for free? (even animes but I'll stick to japanese as it's still the best even tho germany does a great job dubbing, original is always better. I still want to know tho.)

I don't think any German subs exist for the Manben episodes.

You can watch all shows on Crunchyroll with German subs (at least those that are available both in Germany and your region). Just right-click on the video the change the language of your subtitles (or, if you have an account, change your preference). What subtitle languages are available is always displayed in the bar next to the video on the right side.

As for non-anime stuff, I'm sure you'll find tons of dubbed stuff on YouTube (documentaries for example), but some of them might be region-locked.
