You know your franchise is dead on arrival when not many people want to draw porn of it.

Seeing those five nendoroids at WonFes was already sad, but this is even depressing.
Maybe they should have actually tried to invest in the anime if they really wanted this to take off.

They should have done the smartphone game first to hook their base. That's how you reach out to otaku these days. A simple gacha card game with cute girls and maybe some simple rhythm game elements. Once the otaku are hooked with the cards then you spring the anime and music cds and rake in the cash.

This is kind of pathetic but I remember when the Anime was being promoted before it aired and felt like this was not going to do well looks like my intuition was right sad to say.

I thought they were not going tobe as big as they were aiming to but I at least expected some popularity. Then the anime aired and, well, did they really expect to triumph when all they had was an anime with a subpar script, a style and designs that aren't particularly cute or visually striking and a defective and annoying Hirasawa Yui clone as the MC? And lots of poorly singed twinkle twinkle little star.

Although I also believed that with its uniqueness, colorful pallettes and cute style Flip Flappers was going to do very well and... well... I'm still scratching my head about that one.

Most phone games crash and burn in reality. They show up, get an initial push, and then if they don't get an audience they disappear or stop getting updates 6 months or a year later. BanG Dream has been around for a couple years already as well, they were trying to follow the Love Live model that Bushiroad was able to cash in on so well with School Idol Festival.

Bushiroad is weird though, they seem to do a lot of this investment in hopeless projects like the Bushi Road movie and Luck & Logic. The endless cross promotion of Milky Holmes, SIF, and New Japan Pro-Wrestling is really hard to understand either.

This anime is soulless af... everything is so fake... no wonder it didn't take off. Besides, you can't just IMPOSE a new trend. Nobody expected the spanish inqu---- the K-On anime to become so massively popular, but it did without anyone saying "alright, this will be a new era of anime" before it even premiered.

I saw the first episode and this show was CLEARLY made with a checklist.

Well this is depressing and I have high hopes for this. The Bushiroad boss is being too ambitious for his own good with this. To be fair, new series do not always have great beginnings. Even if BanG Dream has been around for two years now, it is still new so it has time to improve and I still believe that it has the potential to be a success. The upcoming game could be the series' strongest asset, mainly because it has four more bands that have looks and personalities. Hopefully that will be the case when it launches. Most importantly, this needs to stand and flesh itself out more than just being a love child of K-ON and Love Live. I will confess, the anime is not doing any justice for it.

The anime just isnt very good. None of the characters are memorable at all. None of the songs have the same hook to them that songs from K-ON and Love Live have. It feels like zero effort went into this franchise.

Big fan of tsundere Arisa, but the show really has too many cringeworthy moments.

I'm of the belief that a big part of why K-On! and Love Live were so successful is because they're just really damn good. I expected nothing from either series and yet they still managed to completely blow me away.

I'm also of the belief that the main reason why BanG Dream isn't popular is because the anime sucks. I expected nothing going into it, I got nothing in return. In a way it's a bit sad because their concerts aren't bad. The only member of the K-On! cast who could actually play their instrument reasonably well was Minako so seeing the guitarist near flawlessly rip through the solo in God Knows was very impressive. But... the anime still sucks. Considering the anime is what gave Love Live the vast majority of its success both at home and overseas, that's a huge blow.

I suggest aiming for a more realistic goal. How about Wake up Girls?
