Isn't this dangerously similar to their previous campaign that failed? I really hate the notion of having to drop several hundreds to get all the books, or risk missing my chances and them going out of print. They could stand to be less vague on how small the print runs actually are.

Actually, this KS for Wonder 3 is several thousand dollars cheaper (in fact, it's slightly less than what the last KS made before failing to meet its goal).

In addition, it's in a single volume omnibus rather than three separate volumes.

Also, all the extra manga aren't stretchgoals or add ons, so it's more likely to get the money from those volumes that a stretchgoal might not have raised prior to reaching it.

Instead of a ton of flair and extra fun trinkets like prior Kickstarters they've done, it's mostly varieties of adding on different books at the lower levels (with some fancy art books and an large Astro Boy figure for those who want the extra goods).

Never going to support their kickstarters again, they still don't seem to understand the basic concepts of digital media. With higher quality versions been later provided to other services (comiXology), and been expected to pay again for higher quality or revised editions.

One of the main advantages of digital media are updates (revisions, better quality), but we just get ripped off in this case.

Huh. I'm not sure what you mean by the expectation to pay again. Unless you mean you didn't own a title on a particular platform that would give you the experience you seek. Because I’ve never had to pay again for even a 2nd edition of one of DMI's titles that's in my eManga account. Though, I have had to remind them about how I was supposed to have access to a new edition there too. DMI is also bad about providing information to customers when they do other updates to titles on their eManga site, such as fixing errors, increasing file size, any revisions for the later print edition, etc. With the 3rd party retailers it's more complicated, including everything that can affect eBook quality on different platforms. I know certain eBooks from DMI could be better. Some of the older ones are still especially less than stellar. Fortunately the PDF’s I’ve got are of sufficient enough quality for me using the proper reading app.

That said, I have no desire to back one of DMI’s kickstarters again either for various reasons.

BTW, it should be noted that Anime Sols tried to crowdfund the Wonder Three show. Anyway, that Dust 8 summary is freakin' creepy, in light of recent tragic events.

If I was more "liquid" I would back this in a heart beat but I'm not so I won't hope this does get funded I backed the Kodomo No Jikan Kickstarter and that had a $157,000 goal and ended up making $185,725 when it was all said and done and that was a super niche title.

This Kickstarter has a $39,000 goal and has $21,075 with 29 days to go so this I think has a good chance of getting funded all the way.

It does seem to be doing quite well. I'm thinking it's because the other manga volumes aren't being stretch goal'd in, but rather options right off the bat.

I'm really hoping these Tezuka KS continue to do well. I really would love to own all of his manga works (which number over 700 volumes over a period of 43 years of producing manga). Not just digitally, but physically. Make myself a few Tezuka shelves.

I'm not inclined to support another DMP Kickstarter. I'm still waiting on the rewards/books from both Kimagure Orange Road and Kodomo no Jikan. I have not been impressed with their communications, such as still not giving us any update on the KOR mangaka's health and being honest with supporters as to what will happen to their rewards in the event that he doesn't improve. I also don't like the spines of these omnibuses. They look incredibly cheap and will crack after a couple readings.

I'm also not pleased with how they handled their latest (failed) Kickstarter for Eden's Mercy. How can you license a book but then run to Kickstarter for the funds to pay for it? 50K for one book seemed awfully excessive when other campaigns have promised more manga for less.

I'll probably back for all the books. I'll have to see how my money is first. But despite the fact DMP is kind of terrible with communication I've always gotten my books from them (even if it took forever) and that is what I care about the most.

Considering my digital copy of Brave Dan on their emanga site was updated to the newer revision, I really don't think that's true.

Your right, the revised editions of 'Brave Dan' and 'Crime and Punishment' are provided, but there is nothing to indicate they were ever updated (older cover art and details are still shown).

Yes, it seems the lack of any notifications for updates is a major problem with the eManga web site.

ComiXology still offers the advantages of higher resolution for many titles, along with their guided view. It would really help if codes for ComiXology were always provided for digital editions as part of each Kickstarter too.

Mewzard, the only manga-ka that could really rival that output figure would be his protege, Shotaro Ishinomori.
