Technically speaking, "ceasing publication" doesn't necessarily mean the series just had it series finale. I think once the artist is feeling better, he will get back to this series.

Hope he gets better. It's always gut-wrenching to hear a manga creator's health is suffering. Take your time and be well, good sir!
