Oh yeah, Girls Beyond the Wasteland. I got about halfway through that when it was streaming and never finished it. It wasn't so much that I dropped it as it just made so little impression on me that I forgot to watch it for a couple of weeks and then didn't feel like catching back up. The review is pretty much spot-on to my own thoughts - not especially good or bad, just totally generic.

While I'd found the criticism of "Just watch Saekano if you are interested in seeing this kind of show" unpersuasive at the time (I'd already seen the first season of Saekano at that point and I'd rather watch something I haven't seen than rewatch something I already have), now that it has finished airing and Saekano's second season is airing, I'll say just watch Saekano if you haven't or aren't already. I didn't hate it - I'll admit I'll probably watch anything with HanaKana in it- but it is clearly the inferior version.

Speaking of HanaKana, the one thing I can remember from the show is her character's arc, who was the voice actor for the game. Her character's acting was by no means bad, but nothing special, and I read that and her response to that as reflecting on her own experiences. She is my favorite voice actress but I don't know that I would say she is the best, and it shows in the dearth of awards and whatnot for her performances. She has had some very good performances, but to me she hasn't had a real tour de force though I hope that changes.

it's so generic tht it's actually bad, I am surprised it did not make it to perishable; I watched it becuase ti was scripted by takahiro, adn Ihave to say it's the worse takahiro show I ahve watched. even his lazily adapted visual novels fare better than this.

Erhhhh... Who wants to watch a show that pretends to be smart with meta jokes about the harem genre, but basically is a poorly written and not subversive harem series, and instead of utilizing an interesting premise, wants to shove in your face everything that you hate about harem shows? Or has it gotten to be actually good in this second season, unless it continues to be the same sh**?

I can't believe that after Bakuman or Shirobako, we don't have a new interesting show where we see the protagonist(s) making it into an artistic industry. Onstead of following suit of the previously mentioned ones, the new shows with this premise waste the most interesting part, in exchange for nothing interesting(Eromanga) or bulls*** wish-fullfillment(Fuuka).

Judging by sales, reviews, and streaming data: A lot of people.

@SkerllyF Saekano, in both seasons, has much more insight on the creative process than you give it credit for or at the very least more than this show. As far as such fare goes, or even generally, Girls Beyond the Wasteland is what poorly written harem series look like, not Saekano. No the latter is not as subversive as some would want, but not everyone needs the genre to be subverted, nor hates the harem genre (frankly I care little about what those who don't like the harem genre think makes for a good harem, which is generally not being a harem). Saekano gets good ratings on most sites, including this one. Aside from the first few episodes (0-2 specifically), the second season is well rated by both users and the reviewer.

Say what you will about Eromanga-sensei, but the Japanese audience at least disagrees with your take on it, given it is one of the most watched new shows this season. Though the thing that is interesting may be something you and much of the Western audience reasonably does not find so (imouto moe fanservice presumably).

Wow, I am pretty surprised to see a collection of plush toys of licensed characters that large and see that it has ZERO in common with my own collection. I was expecting at least Naruto Uzumaki, but he's not there either. Closest there is seems to be larger Hatsune Mikus than what I have and an Aurora Twilight Sparkle (I have a bunch of the other characters from Aurora, including some rare ones like Celestia and Starlight Glimmer, but not Twilight).

I would submit my own collection, but 1) I still need to install some wall shelving so some of the rare and valuable ones are not just lying on the floor, 2) Japanese fiction is the focus of my collection, but a huge part of it is also western media, and 3) I need to remove the dust off of most of them, but dust gathers incredibly quickly in my room for some reason and vacuuming the dust off of them and my other belongings becomes Sisyphean in a hurry.

Man how do you guys keep your anime plushies in good shape? I used to collect them but after a year or two the fabric glue from their hair always started to rot and I haven't had the motivation to buy many more knowing they have such limited shelf life.

It may be climate-based. I actually didn't know about the rotting glue until you said so, because I have not had a problem with any of them. My aforementioned Miku plush was what I used for a few years to hang from my car's rearview mirror (and is thus the one in the roughest environment), and the most damage she got was fading on the front due to the sunlight. Her predecessor, a Koopa Troopa, has a few burn marks though. I live in a dry, arid place, so things rot only if there's flooding or leaking somewhere.

It may also be the manufacturers you get yours from. I really only get them from companies I trust (in addition to Aurora, most of mine are either Olyfactory, Banpresto, Tomy, Jakks Pacific, or whatever Disney has contracted to at the moment), and I don't trust silk-screened parts (you know, those printed-on eyes, emblems, and such), as those I have a problem with--the dusty winds here cause silk-screening to flake off after several months if it's not on a hard, non-porous surface like plastic or metal. I only get plushes where those features are entirely embroidered unless there literally is no other option. The non-silk-screened ones cost more, but they keep for much longer for me.

I have seen a bit of peeling in the hair fabric for some of mine though, and I can say that the severity seems to be inversely proportional to their size. The little Miku I have has some mild peeling, as are other ones of that size I have, but once it goes to about 8 inches or larger, the peeling is minimal.

I really like this show. It was actually about making the game (not like Saekano, which is a just excuse for old romcom harem) from pretty low-key, pragmatical viewpoint. Harem only by looks (there is no romance polygon or whatsoever) - only his childhood friend Yuuka is obviously thinking about him. And they actually did finish their game on the end of series Anime smile.

I find it difficult to believe you were or are paying attention to Saekano, as there is plenty on making a game. Also, you think there was nothing between Sayuki and him? Considering that Saekano is still ongoing, of course they didn't finish in the first season, though they did reach a good stopping point.

Oh, they featured my collection!! Even now I'm still in the process of cleaning, removing the dust from my figures but since I have cats, and they are shedding now...my plushies get cat hair on them so it's a constant battle keeping them in top condition.

I had high(ish) hopes for GBTW. I thought it'd have some fun nerd humor regarding making games or be kinda self aware but it seems it was a pretty straightforward drama. (Maybe I should've watched Saekano?) I didn't watch more than like episode 1 or so, but from what I've been hearing it didn't exactly pick up. It feels like this show was a disappointment rather than a Bad Show.
I thought there was some nice character animation though, especially with the tomboy best friend. She had some nice interaction with the main dude.
(In episode 1 at least)

Kouya should be in perishable or even worse. Show was supposedly a romantic comedy yet there was almost no romance during whole series, in one episode girl kissed sleeping MC and that was all. I heard VN which this anime promoted was also huge disappointment - it supposed to have 2 parts: school and working in company after timeskip but in the end there was only high school part and routes were short.
