I just don't understand how you can make a new installment of a franchise and then say, "the only way you can get a copy is by winning it in this lottery." If some US company did this, the whole thing would be up on 4chan in under an hour. Do they make people sign something when they win it, promising not to rip the CD?

I honestly don't see the point of doing some random audio drama, sure it's new content but what about those who don't speak japanese, also I highly doubt that the audio drama which is only 14 minutes long is going to answer the big questions some fans have for the series

So I guess they just hate making money, then?

There are groups that do fansubs for audio dramas; I've listened to both the D-Frag and the Touhou M-1 Grand Prix drama CDs with subtitles.

I don't get it. I just don't get it; why in the hell they won't make an actual sequel even though it has a huge fanbase both here and in japan. it's retarded.

What about them? Move to Japan and learn the language if you want 100% of everything they make. Why do you think overseas folk do certain things to get the things that are obviously not going to be released in their country? Just like that T&B concert in 2015 that had a new 18 minute animated short (called "Too many cooks spoil the broth.") and was never released outside of Japan. Gotta get that mindset out of head regarding overseas folks being on their minds when they create something. It's not....99% of the time.

If I were to guess (assuming that there were ever plans for a sequel series) it's because the two movies didn't meet sales expectations. Sequels of a hit series are not a guarantee hit. Heck, you'd just have to look at Attack on Titan to see that. The first series averaged like 50k copies per volume and yet the sequel is looking like it'll sell maybe 10-15% of that per volume. That's a massive dive. So even though Tiger & Bunny did extremely well, I'd imagine there's still some hesitation, particularly since the movies somehow managed to sell worse than the TV anime (something that practically never happens due to movies having a much cheaper yen per minute of animation cost).

This is not uncommon, actually.

K
had drama CDs and short stories where you not only had to get them from a lottery, but to enter the lottery, you had to buy every DVD volume, or every volume of one of the manga series, all from Animate. So once you buy the whole series from Animate, then you get to pull for the lottery.

Of course, fan translations of all of these are archived on tumblr. I wouldn't be surprised if other series' fandoms do the same. I don't condone piracy (so I'm not going to tell you the name of the tumblr blog) but in situations like this...
