About Isshiki, these last few volumes/chapters that came out are doing a really good job of making him likable. I would even say that he's my second favorite out of the dorm, just behind soma. It also doesn't hurt thay the art gets all cool when he's serious... Laughing

"Tournament schools" has its disadvantages, but it truly does shine on those who wants to genuinely excel in their study/craft. The problem is that most kids attend schools because it is the norm, not because they have a desire to learn. And you see the same thing in Azami's administration; the students of central who are not in Elite Ten are just a bunch of kids who want to be recognized by others and Azami, that they have reached a sufficient level to be considered a good cook, rather than having an interest in and desire to master the art of cooking. I mean, I am not condemning this type of attitude, because people can be content with just graduating from school and find a job and live a stable life, but students who possess that extra desire to learn are a whole different breed, and they shouldn't have to accept to be just content with learning from other people like what Azami administration is forcing on students. The unfortunate thing is that pretty much most of the schools in the world promote this same disinterested attitude towards learning.

So all I am trying to say here is that I see a lot of people that say that Totsuki's teaching methodology is contradictory to conventional wisdom and some even argue that it is detrimental to learning, but these people are not addressing the fact that modern teaching methodologies (very similar to Azami administration) has its own significant problems, and Totsuki's system is one way to solve those problems.
