I appreciate everything Platinum has done, but TBH I don think they've made anything since Okami that even comes close to being as good.

I'm also a little bitter that they've become known as the "action combat guys." Infinite Space was fantastic, and it's tragic that they haven't really branched out into other genres since.

Technically, Okami was not a PlatinumGames title but a Clover Studio one, but it's not really that much of a distinction given that most everyone at PlatinumGames is former Clover staff. I do actually prefer to think of them as the action combat guys behind Viewtiful Joe, God Hand, and so on because if you think about it...they're the only ones really making this style of game. Okami is cool and all, but it's cut from the same cloth as the 3D incarnations of The Legend of Zelda, both in its strengths and weaknesses. I can still "get" that Okami feel from games made by other developers. The thing about these re-releases of "last-gen" titles such as Bayonetta and Vanquish is that it shines a light on how nobody else is even TRYING to iterate upon them.

Why would anybody...."iterate" on a pair of games that weren't commercially successful?
