Well he was a war criminal & an unapologetic crook, so it's hard to make him the good guy. Ohwada should write & publish the what's left in one collection to get around it.

Sounds like their counterpart to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I know it's something of a taboo to poke fun of your superiors in Japan though, no matter how light or flattering it is.

My parents come from a country like that, and when they come to America and see us constantly making fun of our leaders and politicians, most of the older immigrants find it frustrating and disgusting. The idea is that no matter how bad they are, you do not mock them, insult them, parody them, or plant them in a fictional or non-serious setting. They consider it blasphemous. (The younger immigrants, on the other hand, find it amazing because it means they can finally vent about the politicians they dislike.)

Going with the political pressure theory, I will believe that more when the creator says something that confirms the magazine editor's statement.
