I work at a GameStop, and our date changed last week from Nov. 29th (which we had listed for about a month) until Jan. 3rd. I don't know which is more accurate, but its not too often that we list a delay that's not accurate.

About freakin' time...

Hopefully it'll have the Japanese extras on it. Or at least Last Order...

$28.95? Why what a weird price. I can't imagine that they would wait till after the holiday season to bring it out, so I'm more inclined to believe the November date.

I hope this is the last delay and it will be released on time. Already, student workers here at my job are asking if we're going to get it in. It The only reason why it would be worth getting is for the CG and not necessarily for the story. I'm curious to see it as well. Even though I wished they had left the story alone when 'Hironobu Sakaguch' first created 'FFVII'. But hell, we know how *milking the 'FFVII' cow goes. Rolling Eyes

But this should be interesting to see what type of effects the movie will have. I want to see where this chapter is going to fall. We might end up being one of the first libraries to carry the title.

I hope you're not looking for a plot, because there really isnt one. If you want over the top action, to the point of absurdity, then by all means, have a blast.

THIS MOVIE ROCKS!!!! but there is no story. While the animation is beautiful, and the action scenes INTENSE (think Matrix 10 fold) the plot falls short.
Is it me or are alot of recent anime directors completely neglecting their movie's storyline (with the exception of Miyazaki and Satoshi Kon).
Steamboy, Wonderful Days (Sky Blue), Spriggan, Appleseed, to name a few, all are amazingly animated. But they all seem to lose focus on the script. It's sort of an unsettling trend.

And i've noticed on one bittorent site, the traffic was over 100,000.

Sad that SquareEnix delayed it. Wonder how many of these downloaders will eventually "Buy" the DVD....

I'm not sure why you people think 100,000-200,000 people downloading something is going to make any kind of dent in the sales of this thing.

Final Fantasy VII is still one of the top-selling games of all time. It sold something on the order of 8 million copies. Even if half a million teenagers steal this movie on the internet they're still guaranteed to sell a metric ton of copies.

I mean, more people than that downloaded Star Wars Episode III, and even more people than that bought bootleg DVDs. Movie grossed over 300 million bucks in the theaters and will do probably half that business if not more on DVD.

You have to consider the relative popularity of something. Final Fantasy VII was popular with more than just hardcore anime nerds, it was popular with everyone, a colossal mainstream success. The mainstream buyers are the important ones and they're not the ones stealing everything 2 months before it's supposed to come out.

For some reason, the people who claim to "truly support!" the film and the property and claim to "appreciate it on a higher level" are the ones most likely to not pay for it, which is the most important thing they can do to show their "appreciation". But that's irony for you, isn't it?

Shut up. Nobody wants to hear about how you stole something and then didn't like it.

If you wanted to watch it, you should have paid for it, regardless of whether or not you liked it.

I too saw it recently, and can't wait to get a copy of it. I wonder when the they'll mention the language options. One person elsewhere said the delay was to match the lips to the dub. I hope that's not true since that would imply dub only. Nothing against dubbing it, but I really liked the Japanese cast.

I doubt Last order will be an extra. No way would it they consider putting one of the reasons to buy the $300 edition on a $30 dollar disc. It would be nice though.

They're not going to re-render the whole movie just to get the lips to match the dub track, that would cost a fortune. Problem is, the lip movement is very close to the Japanese language version; it's very realistic, not just anime-style lip flapping.

The disc will have a Japanese language track and subtitles, I can assure you. But I have no idea what the dub is going to be like.
