Very excited about this!

The key visual looks great so far while they have a talented staff. From what I heard, the series has an episodic structure so I'm curious how much they will adapt.

Damn, Anime Expo gets the premiere of both the first three episodes of Ancient Magus' Bride and the first episode of this. Lucky.

And I think they said something about January 2018, so that confirms Winter (though with a prescreening in fall, that kinda has to be the case).

Two things: this show really exists, and I am very impressed that AX is hosting a premier event. And also, does this mean Kyoto Animation will start being nicer toward Western fans?

Is there no chance that this show might start airing in Fall?

^Considering the Japanese premiere will be at their fan event on October 21, if the show started in Fall, those episodes would already have aired already, so it wouldn't be the premiere. Plus it would be weird to mention January 2018 in that case (I can't read much of that part so I don't know exactly what it says, which I'm sure someone will rectify). Patience, it's just three months difference.

Show begins January next year, the trailer confirmed this. Considering AFA Singapore is in November I don't think it can be possible to be much earlier.

I don't know how they weren't nice before. In the 2000s, they sold the only title they had international rights for to Central Park Media, giving Eng fans the exact same release JP fans had (with bonus features) and even creating an English website for it. In 2014 and 2015, they went to Anime Expo to advertise and sell merchandise. Likely they didn't return in 2016 or 2017 due to a lack of buyers, so I'd say the Western fans need to start being nicer to KyoAni.

It's possible that KyoAni has international rights to Violet and are promoting it themselves internationally as a result given the announcement in multiple languages for the novel commercial, the official twitter account tweeting out news in English, and now going to multiple international conventions to premiere it (likely finishing the entire production prior to JP airing as well).

What else would you want to "be nicer to Western fans?" A pony? (given how people on this site despise Pony Canyon and how lackluster Euphonium did for them, I doubt so)

Ohh, boy, did I pick a great time to go to my first Anime Expo. Very Happy I am so excited to see Kyoto Animation doing this and I hope they can do this sort of thing again in the future. See you at the Expo!

AX is the anime-specific convention to go to, so I too am envious. Luckily there will be news coverage and plenty of YT of such events.
