Do American manga publishers know which manga are in talks of getting adaptations when they look into licensing? Because seeing a newly licensed manga get an adaptation announcement happens so often!

I'm happy for Kasane fans, heard it's a great manga. Hopefully if it does well digitally, Kodansha will release it in print, too.

Kodansha USA is a subsidiary of Kodansha in Japan, so I'm sure they get told when it's a good time to prep a new release.

Really looking forward to seeing how they'll portray the characters.
My main pet peeve with live action adaptation is exactly characters that are supposed to be incredibly pretty or really ugly, because they never are either, just normal.

Kodansha USA aren't even trying to hide it. They know for sure! Welcome to the Ballroom, Interviews with Monster Girls, Land of the Lustrous, Love and Lies, Aho Girl are some recent things I can think of that all got licensed before they even got anime announcements, a bit too much of a coincidence.

Yeah. The problem with most of live action is that the actors don't do justice in the looks department (not saying they're ugly or anything, but they just don't look or represent the characters spot on. Because it's really hard to find the actor like that)

The makeup department of the live action should really do their best in this. I especially wanna see how they handle Kasane's original face.

I would imagine they are aware of some of them. Adding on to what you said, a manga getting an adaptation so frequently means they might not keep up with all of them.
