to be honest I bet the staff of this new production are more than happy he's doing the separating, so they don't have to do it

I remember that. The Slaughtering Grounds, a very bad FPS game, was mocked by game critic Jim Sterling, which Digital Homicide Studios, the makers of the game, didn't like that so not only did they try to sue Sterling for slander but also block or delete bad reviews of the game and even request a subpoena against Valve Corporation for the identities of those 100 Steam users who gave their games bad reveiws. This last act only made Valve removed all of DHS games from Steam and made them very disliked by everyone to the point they were force to drop their lawsuit with Sterling. |

Now I don't think he should be pushed out of the industry, and I will judge his works on their merits, not his, but if the producers, staff, and cast don't want to deal with his brand of BS, they'll have no objection from me. What an inveterate sleazebag and provocateur.

It seems that Yamakan has met the beginning of his end...
With him no longer wanting to have any connection to Wake Up Girls, perhaps the staff will have a much simpler time setting up? |

So I believe the next step in the process will be him appearing on a few B-class variety shows for a year. Then after that, we don't hear much from him outside of the occasional twitter rant no one pays attention to for about 5 years.
And then finally he gets arrested for illegal drug possession. That's how these stories tend to go, right? |

This guy seems like one of those people who says how much they hate "drama" and then goes and starts a bunch of crap with people and plays the victim whether they are or aren't one.

I used to actually have some sympathy for this guy. I did, after all, really like Wake Up, Girls! and thought it was saying some nice things regarding idol culture. But he is legitimately a mental wreck. Yeah, I'll still judge his work based on its own merits, as I do with anyone, but as a person, he just seems so miserable and like such a massive dick.

Let's turn the clock back to 2006: Haruhi Suzimiya was the biggest thing on earth, that stupid dance was everywhere, Ayano Hirano was worshpiped by Otakus, and Yamakan was considered a genius... Did you ever think things would turn out like this?

I got to meet him at Anime Weekend Atlanta last year. He seemed...really tense and strict. Down to business guy. I figured it was probably due to being stressed and tired and being in a country where could barely speak to anyone, but maybe that's closer to his true character, who knows. He was completely straight faced during all interactions I witnessed and very "this is business" about the autograph session. This was as close to a smile as he got.
Click Shame that they kind of kicked him out without telling him though. I really enjoyed WUG and the new art is a bit jarring but hopefully everything will go over well. Excited to see WUG again in 2 days! (Was lucky enough to catch them at Acen in...2014 I believe?) |
