RIP. Looks like I'm not watching anything legally this season. Good thing BnHA is continuing.

Well, it seems like I was wrong in thinking that Sentai would give HIDIVE a boost by placing new shows on that service. Aside from the first announcement, it looks like they intend to carry forward with putting content behind a double paywall.

It might be too little too late for some, but hopefully these Strike exclusives show up in HIDIVE in a few months.

what was the point of the HIDIVE thing if sentai was just going to put the majority of shows on strike?

It's just a replacement for TAN. HIDIVE seems to have more international rights than TAN. Sentai used to put 1 seasonal show on TAN exclusively, something that didn't have many chances of becoming popular, they're just doing the same thing now.

They're also premiering dubs on it, something they weren't doing with TAN. I imagine that the more expensive shows will go to Strike, while more niche, less expensive simulcasts will go to HIDiVe. It remains to be seen how long the exclusivity period for Strike is.

I expect most people have forgotten or missed it entirely, but TAN did that for a while, even making them available slightly before the home video release. That didn't last long, however, and soon after the dubs of new shows seemed to dry up altogether.

That's why I used the term "weren't" as in "they weren't doing that at the time". It's been a couple of years since TAN last did it, so it's hardly relevant at this point.

I don't know that much about Sentai or their streaming services but I'm always in the mood for more yaoi. And here I was just thinking how there's not enough yaoi anime to watch. Thank you, universe
