And now some fans will finally call it anime after hearing the Japanese dub.

But wouldn't it have much more sense to cast Okiayu as Alucard, not Trevor, since he has voiced a character in a number of games?

Very Happy
The title say everything "Netflix Reveals Castlevania Animated Series' Japanese Dub Cast, Trailer"

And no, a Japanese dub don' make it a anime. Like in many western countries Japan dub everything including western animated series.

But that don't means that is not good. There are good western animation series and movies and this one looks very good. At least is in my to watch list.

Just 4 episodes? Well, guess I should just enjoy it while it lasts. Probably think of it as a movie broken into 4 parts.

I wonder if there will be any Westaboos that will criticize other Japanese fans for not watching the English dub instead.

Wait, wait, wait, they have Alucard's original actor....and he's playing Trevor and not Alucard? What. The. HELL? Heck, you could switch him and Miki's roles and it'd be fine, Miki even already having played a Belmont (Richter, in a Castlevania drama CD). Also, no Norio Wakamoto as Dracula? Lame (even Naoya Uchida is a great actor). Recasting all over the place

Wait i thought that Ryotaru was reprsing his role as Alucard. This really sucks !! Evil or Very Mad And the fact that no Norio Wakamoto for Dracula is another let down.

I don't care about voice actors from either country. Just want to know who's making the animation though.

Trailer looks nice, but we have to wait and see how well the animation is made overall. Video game based anime are always known for being terrible.

A Japanese dub doesn't make a Cartoon an Anime and an English dub doesn't make an Anime a Cartoon. That's not how it works. The original dub does have to be Japanese. Doesn't matter if it gets released after a foreign dub, but it has to be the original dub. The original dub is mostly the thing where the director of the anime sits in the room giving the actors, y'know, directions. (He doesn't have to be present all the time, though.) The original dub is the language for which the anime and the script was written.

But the dub is only part of what makes an Anime what it is. It also has to be produced by the Japanese for the Japanese (with the Japanese).

Take the movie The Last Unicorn for example. That was produced by the Americans for the Americans with Americans (or British or whatever. English speaking people.) It just so happens that the animations where completely done by Topcraft (the guys that later became Ghibli).

So no, this show will never be Anime. It will always be a Cartoon. Or whatever you guys call this to feel less embarrassed about it. Animated Picture or something.
