I'm enjoying this a lot, but i'm a sucker for this type of show. Ep. 3 was pretty touching.

As for Hase, at first i thought he and Ryuu were the same person because they look so much alike, but since they appear together in the OP/ED and have different seiyuu , i go with them being related for now (or maybe it's just lazy character design...).

I'm glad you like it so far! I was worried how people would view it because of its poor visuals. Despite that, as a fan, I still can enjoy it like I did with the manga. I just hope it won't get too rushed and can convey the feels nicely, like in episode 3.

I believe I've made the right choose in watching EYAL. The main lead isn't as generic as I thought he'd be, the character dynamics are on par with the rest of the show, and so, far, there hasn't been any elements I personally find annoying. Looking forward to future episodes. Smile

I've been reading the manga for a while, and rereading it feels like meditation. I just love it, and seeing it animated gives it another point of view I greatly enjoy.

I'm so happy that one of my favorite manga was animated this year.

I like how there were no punches pulled with the dog.

Yes he did rip her throat out, and did not resist what the mob did to him or else he would have been the same as her. Taking out his rage on a unsuspecting target, righteous or not it really was not its place to decide unless willing to fully accept the consequences.

There is some interesting stuff going on with this show, I almost wrote it off after the 1st episode, as this season seems to be chock full of good first episodes, and this one really did nothing to distinguish itself.

I think there's definitely a connection, if only because they part their hair on the same side. Wink Seriously, in the line-up at the end of the OP their faces are identical. Ryuu has his ponytail and is slightly taller, but otherwise they might as well be the same person.

This is very similar to Natsume Yuujincho and the main theme seems to be about a boy growing into an adult and learning about friendship and acceptance of others because of the yokai and people he comes to know in that apartment building. It's a very slow-moving Slice of Life with occasional bit of action, just like Natsume. It doesn't hit all of its marks, but it's decent enough to pass the time while hoping for season 7 of NY.

This episode was surprising. A main character with backbone! Yushi actually fought six guys! That's impressive. Sure, he didn't win, but he wasn't about to let those scags up in his place of rest. Lately, I've seen too many anime where the male lead is a scared, wimpy, 5 foot nothing doormat that finds himself inferior to those around him. I'm Yushi isn't like that. Smile

Meanwhile, some store in Akihabara should figure out how to ship those magical hair pendants overseas to all those potential wives of nobles fangirling over Ryu-san.

It would not surprise me if they did, but no doubt the hair in the lockets would not be from dashing young men, but from women who sell their long hair for wigs.

I'm not clear on why the place looked so deserted. I thought maybe the pendant was keeping him from seeing supernatural stuff, but the thugs could see the demons, and they weren't particularly sensitive to such things. Were they all deliberately hiding from him?

The kid and his dog turning around to look at the camera in the eye catch this week was creepy as hell. Very Happy

I found Yushi's contemplation of guilt hard to stomach – he didn't so much let go of Takenaka's hand as he refused to hold still when that hand was hitting him for Takenaka's own pleasure.

I think this was mostly to show us how much Yushi genuinely cares for people and not so much about whether (we think) Takenaka deserves this kind of attention. We've already seen it in previous episodes that Yushi is a person who can't just ignore people he thinks are in need which is what ultimately drove him away from his modern but cold dorm and back to the Youkai Apartment.

And i continue to be amused by Ryu-san being everybody's favourite idol.

The whole thing with Sato confused me for a bit because I had been under the impression that he was a ghost who somehow had a job, rather than a youkai, so I couldn't figure out why he could eat and drink. Smile Once I got past that, that was a sweet scene.

I sure can relate to his roommate situation though. It's really crappy to come home from class to people who won't talk to you.

I thought the montages we're well handled in this episode. Usually they amount to filler but they really hit me because I know that "stranger in your own town" feeling. Just going through the motions and being social but not actually feeling like it has any value to you because something's missing. I also thought the apology was nice since it's pretty rare you get a tsundere or hateful character in anime actually realizing how shitty they were.

"She's a ghost. She's not supposed to be that visible." Laughing

So, Inaba's Book of Friends?

And how delightful that they got Takehito Koyasu to reprise his role as Fool (Kaleido Star), albeit in a different, but no less flamboyant outfit. Very Happy

It will probably be easier for Hase to adjust by witnessing it first-hand then if Yushi had just told him about his new housemates... Laughing

And Yushi's useless new "servants" made me chuckle quite a bit, i wonder how they'll actually help our two BFF to get out of that tricky situation.

I was on the fence with whether to continue this series, but I really loved ep6. Furuhonya brought a new energy to the show, and gave our protagonist a set of supernatural Clow cards.
I'm a little wary on Hase, though. His overachieving attitude sounds to me like it could cross the line into aggressive towards people who aren't Yushi, and his rejection of anything Yushi tried to talk about this ep came across as harsh to me, but we'll see how the show will develop him going forward.
