It does sound kinda pushy lol. I can understanding their feelings, but a lackluster (though enjoyable) anime from 5 years ago isn't gonna keep people coming for 20 years.

You just CAN'T keep pilgrimage sites going forever, least of all for Rin-Ne.

You can, however, still find the Cheers pub in Boston.

I respect their determination to bring in tourism, but the Rinne anime really didn't have an impact that would encourage visiting the area.

Perhaps the tourism board could work with a local author and develop a new story, one that highlights the positive aspects of the area?

I vaguely recall that the Rin-ne anime didn't actually show much of Kamogawa as a setting. There aren't enough locales being shown, the skies were colored weird, and the mecha battles take place either in the middle of the sea, in the skies, in outer space, or a parallel dimension. Not exactly in Kamogawa as we know it.

They did show the beach though.

Looking back at it now, it really is a shame. Sad
