I was very hyped for this anime until they revealed a MALE self-insert coach. That really disgusts me so much. I wish people would stop doing the Idolmaster/Little Witch Academia move and just make their anime be about X girls doing X things without any self-insert or romance garbage.

I'm just hoping that the coach isn't some big walking Initial D joke since you have Takumi's voice actor voicing the coach of a racing team.

I get Idolmaster but I'm not sure I understand why you're bring LWA up.... Honestly from reading this I got no indication that the coach was supposed to be a self insert. He's probably a relatively unimportant side character since they haven't bothered to show his character design.

That is what I am afraid of what will happen when this anime airs. As I said, it would be ashamed if fans will tune in to the Takumi coach instead of the girls for the Initial D memes.

And that is very close to what I call the Idolmaster move. The first two anime of Idolmaster did not reveal their respective Producer, who was the self-insert and the REAL MC, until the very first episode aired. In Two-Car's case, it did reveal it will have a guy but not his character role yet. I do not want him to be the male love interest who will be the center of attention for all the girls. To turn this promising sports anime into a self-insert harem or generic romance anime is absolutely pathetic.

As for Little Witch Academia, I used to be a fan of it and I enjoyed the OVAs. That was until >>>>>Trigger tried to shove their ego down our throats by placing elements in the TV anime that should have never been there. The romance element in particular. It ruined the atmosphere of LWA and while that element was killed off during production, the damage had been done.

Sidecar racing is f*cking dangerous and no Japanese parents in their right mind would let their teenage girls do it.

You never know, that might be part of the plot line of the show. Or not, they could brush it aside like Initial D brushes aside the illegality of street racing and the fact that cops would have busted their butts for that in the real world. I still love Initial D though.

Seriously, it's way too soon how much of a role the coach will play. Hell, he could be acting in a similar role like Genjiuro from Symphogear for all we know.

If Girls und Panzer can have cute Japanese school girls doing tank battles on an aircraft carrier, these girls in Two Car can handle the danger just fine. Surprised

spoiler[Brutal honesty, I wish Ogawa, Genjuuro, Ver, and the entire S4 never existed in Symphogear. They take up too much of the girls' spotlight.]

And please, do NOT compare Girls und Panzer to this (tentative) soon-to-be failure of an anime. GuP never had a male producer/admiral/sensei/coach/self-insert/harem guy to be one of the best anime series there is today. That is why I prefer the likes of Love Live, K-On, Yuru Yuri, BanG Dream, Kemono Friends, and Girls und Panzer. Yeah, please forgive me for that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

^^Wow. I have not seen someone with such thoughts like you, sir, before on this website. If you don't mind, Mr. Hayabusa, I have something to ask you. Based on your recent comment on this matter, do you honestly believe that one (and for this show so far, only one) male is enough to prevent a good show with a majority female cast from being a great one? (Even if said male's screen time is very limited compared to the girls') What if the male's role can actually have a positive effect on the show (and not in the self-insert sort of way, but as an actual character with no romance involved whatsoever) Do you really hate males that much?

Calm down, buddy. I am very sorry for being overly sensitive. What I said earlier is purely restricted to "X girls doing X things" shows which I am a very big fan of. We rarely get those shows and only a handful of them succeed. I do not hate males at all. I just do not like them if they are in those types of shows as show-stealers or self-inserts. I do like anime and manga spoiler[(and hentai, mind you)] regardless of the male/female ratio, okay? Old romance ones like Ah! My Goddess and School Rumble, and recent ones like Koi to Uso and Scum's Wish which in my opinion is the best "romance" anime I have watched in a long while. I also watch harem anime where the self-insert concept DOES fit right in. Heck, I even watched Hibike! Euphonium and that is Yuri Bait: The Animation.

I know I have been very negatively vocal of the male coach who has not even appeared yet. Again, I was very hyped of this show until it revealed him. My expectations were screwed so much, I have jumped to conclusions higher than I should. I suspect that Silver Link brought him and had him voiced by Takumi's VA because they may not have faith for their new anime if they keep the new anime too original, as in no shout-outs to other racing anime like Initial D. What a frustrating feeling but I hope that the show will not go to the wrong direction.

Initial D is based on things that actually happened in real life.

Really? Bound to be loosely.

I mean street racing in general was (and still is, but as much now) a real thing.
