I actually liked the art here, and honestly found the character design way more interesting than Princess Principal.

After episode 2 I saw some things that concerned me, but episode 3 calmed down my worries. So far Love and Lies has been a weird romance story, but I am liking what I have seen, and I think this show could at least be memorable, even if it never becomes a high quality work.

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I'm already enjoying this show way more than I ever enjoyed Scum's Wish.

So what is the correct name of Ririna/Lilina's name because the anime subs call her Ririna but the official translation from mangabox call her Lilina(this is the one I see most comments with). Is this just a Zoro/Zolo situation where both are right and it is up to the person read/watching to decide for themselves.

Technically, there is no "L" in Japanese. If her name was foreign, it would be spelled with katakana which would indicate "Lilina" but it's a Japanese name, in kanji. "Ririna" is the correct way.

I figure the L/R thing, but the in the anime in episode 1 on amazon her name is show as Lilina then they change it to Ririna thats where my confusion comes from. What caused the change?

This is like the happy, polar opposite of Scums Wish. Helps that the main girl looks eerily similar. Quality-wise, this will probably be inferior, but this show seems much more hopeful, joyous, and more positive towards its main characters.

I seeeeeriously hope this doesn't take a turn towards Scum's Wish levels. I absolutely despised that show and it's "everyone is absolute trash" take towards romance and sexuality.

Luckily it's not even close to that sort of self-destructiveness so far, but I could see the melodrama going that way. Please L&L don't let me down *fingers crossed*.

We will probably never know. It was only on one shot that her name was Lilina. It could have been a different translator that did that episode, or they could have been instructed to spell it that way by the production committee. It could have also just been a simple mistake in the first episode.

That one kiss near the end of episode 3 renewed my interest in this anime.

I hope it wasn't some fanservice that's never going to be adressed again. That was honestly bold of them to show this; especially when it was supposed to happen later, according to readers.

Especially when I was so close to dropping this show.

But if the official Manga translation has it as "Lilina", then there is ABSOLUTELY no reason to change it. This is very similar to the whole Holo/Horo situation in Spice & Wolf. People insisted for YEARS that it should be Horo. They referred to her as Horo on message boards and in fan translations. They railed against the official translations as wrong because they translated it with the "l" when there is no "l" in Japanese. (All the while the main male character in the story is named Lawrence... which makes the argument even more ludicrous.) Then Spice & Wolf 2 came out in Japan and, right there, on the screen, in the ORIGINAL Japanese version, Holo signs her name on a contract as: H O L O.

If the official translation of the manga is already done, that is the way the names should be presented.

I think the government officials do bring up some good point. I mean we aren't always the best at picking our partners, like they said. That's why online dating websites and apps were made. They do the same sort of thing as the government in this show, collecting information on you and using that to match you with someone the system thinks will be compatible with you, or at least some do. But the difference is that it is totally voluntary in both the giving of information and what you do with their suggestions. That's key as even though we will more likely make a bad choice if we have a choice, this is something where we must make the choice, not the government or anyone else.

I didn't dislike this episode. I really liked Yukari and Misaki's kiss in the classroom and I am definitely intrigued by what is really going on with Misaki. Yeah Yukari is a bit bland, but I don't really care right now, as that's not really what I'm watching it for. One doesn't watch a harem (I wouldn't say that this show is one at this point though the relationship chart could go in that direction) for the boy. It would enhance the show (and the better harems usually do better in the male lead department) to make Yukari a more realized character, but failing that isn't necessarily a negative in my book.

When Yukari and Misaki were talking about the government officials visit, she vaguely said that she has to live with him. My theory is that the male official is her older brother, who for whatever reason has been estranged from the family or who she does not get along with. Yukari's initial text showing that Misaki was his picked wife-to-be was actually correct, but the male official changed it because he did not approve of Yukari for whatever reason. He would have found out Misaki's partner ahead of time because she is older than him, but they have to wait until Yukari is 16 to tell them both. So he changed it to the next highest compatible person for Yukari, who ends up being Lilina, in order to prevent him from being with Misaki.
