Is this supposed to be for an English version? I know that there was a series of Japanese 'The World' .hack mag years ago. Maybe the G.U. version is different?

No problem. Here we go:

1).hack//SIGN (along with the special episode Intermezzo which is considered either ep 27 or .hack//Another Story)

2) (the .hack games) Infection, Mutation, Outbreak and Quarintine (along with the anime discs that comes with each game .hack//LIMINALITY. Also with the last games DVD disc is the parody episdoe .hack//GIFT. Has nothing to do with the .hack story, but it's just flat out funny for the fans.)

3) After the games there's an episdoe of SIGN that takes place AFTER the games which is called.hack//UNISON. But the chracters from SIGN and from the games (which are different sets of characters) are together in one episdoe. Considered ep 28 of .hack as well.

4) After that is .hack//Legend of the twilight AKA Dusk. (The one that was on cartoon network where everyone look chibi.) My personal least favorite out of everything .hack, but that's just me.

5) Now the newest game .hack//G.U. Which I am EXTREMLY excited about. New graphics, new characters, new story, and new battle system!

6) OH YEAH! Can't forget .hack//A.I. Buster, and the new game .hack//FRAGMENT. The 4 .hack games and G.U. anre all simluated MMORPGS, they are not really online, but Fragment however is the frist online .hack so it's groundbreaksing for the series. It comes out in late Nov for Japan but there is no release date in amercia, or if it is even going to be released here. A.I. Buster is an actual novel, not a manga.

That's a lot of .Hack.. and I like it!! There's a lot more out there than I thought (and I really liked Twilight. I thought the original took itself way too seriously, but that's just IMO). Oh yeah, about the actual topic: awesome, can't wait.

Yeah, there's alot of .hack out there, but those are the ones I know of. The reason I don't like Legend of the Twilight is because it has nothing to do with the games or SIGN, and compared to the story tht surrounds those 2 it isn't that good. It's just a less complicated .hack aimed more towards kids. The 4 games is my favortie story. .hack is meant to be serious because it involves people going comatose because of a game, and the reasons behind it. If thats not serious, I don't know what is. Plus .hack streaches thourgh alot of different media. Both anime and games form one complete story.

Not really. You can if you want to, but I didn't Anime hyper They are almost all different stories, but there is always some sort of cross over between everything, but you don't have to watch SIGN to get the games or anything like that. The only exception is Unison. You HAVE to have have finished the games and SIGN in order to understand what's going on or it will give you MAJOR spoilers for both.

The site is okay for .hack news, but if you know where to look, it's less than mediocre. Add with the fact that most of its forum members are arrogant. But I'm not gonna get into that.

I suppose the .hack franchise is a bit like Nirvana,
the world just can't get enough of it.

GU officially stands for "Grow Up" but there are 12 more meanings that will be used throughout the games. Here are 11 of the meanings found in the trailers with speculation on how it will be used:

Guilty Universe- Maybe Haseo's guilty for what he's done or maybe The World as a whole is guilty.

Guardian Ubiquitous- Ubiquitous means present, appearing or found everywhere. Using that definition, it's a guardian that's everwhere so it must be talking about Aura.

Gate of Uroboros- Uroboros is a picture of a snake biting it's own tail, sort of a symbol for infinity. Gate of Infinity doesn't make sense right now but it'll be revealed later on.

Graceless Unison- A graceless unison could be talking about the clans of PKers in the game. A unison of players with no grace.

Guide to an Uprising- Probably talking about the PKs.

Genesis of Ultima- The origin of the end. Maybe it's about how Haseo is the origin of the end of PKers or something.

Generation of Unity- Maybe hinting at the games' ending.

Geeks Utopia- Self explanatory.

Gathering of the Unwilling- Maybe the PKers set a trap on unsuspecting players and attack them, thus, a gathering of the unwilling.

Genocide of the Unfaithful- Self explanatory. Wiping out all the unfaithful PKers.

Genetics of the Unknown- Maybe talking about the Phases' data. The Phases could be unknown to the players and their data are the genetics.

Well hope that helps.
