How is it compared to the original series?

Kind of an adult-tinged reboot of the original series.

I thought this series was going to last three or four volumes. Guess I was wrong.

It retains aspects of the original series. Only difference is that Onizuka is dealing with older students now all of who happen to be celebs but their level of teacher bullying is NOTHING compared to Onizuka's original class especially Urumi who should all be in High School too at this point. We got a cameo of Tomoko so Im hoping we get to see more of them in the future....Whenever that will be

Forgot to mention 2 other things. Paradise Lost has spoiler[more explicit content] than the original and Onizuka is obviously older and more experienced now since this is a sequel although he still works at the same school. Its a nice change because PL has him dealing with a who class of celeb students who also have realistic albeit uncommon problems and how often do you see that in manga or anime? Even his fellow assistant teacher is a former celeb herself. Old Uchiyamada has his own arc too which was a nice read
