more at issue is the comment he makes about Hinana having a close male friend when “she's supposed to be his.” While this kind of possessiveness is hardly uncommon in either shoujo or josei romances (or BL or even American bodice rippers, for that matter), it also isn't a particularly good sign.

I love it when male love interests are a little bit possessive. If they're not, I'll feel like the guy isn't really interested in the girl. Confused

I really liked this series between this Waiting For Spring, and Anonymous Noise, as well as the soon to be released Wake Up, Sleeping Beauty by Megumi Morino. A number of good Shojo title have been released this year. When I read Kiss Me At The Stroke of Midnight it had slight elements that reminded me of Sensual Phrase.

Not a good sign for me but I can hope it doesn't go doesn't the same road that series went down though.

And that's totally fine - there's a reason it's one of the most popular romance genre tropes! Very Happy It's also one of the more uncomfortable ones for some readers, though, especially when it turns into "captive bride" variations. But romance is a really flexible genre because it's such a personal one for people, so keep on liking (or disliking) what you like!

I've read like the first 3 volumes and found it to be pretty pure. I don't think it will head down that road but who knows. I do remember a couple bait and switches to make you think it's doing xyz trope but then it's like j/k it's actually not.

(I'm actually surprised to find out this was released in English... I have the first 4 volumes in Japanese so I'll probably just keep up with the Japanese releases.)
