Cool interview. Looking forward to Vol 5.

Vol 4 was a bit of a slip compared to 2 or 3 but it was by no means bad so hopsfully Vol 5 can fix some of the issues.

I feel like it wasnt so much a slip as an intentional pull back. See thing you need to keep in mind is until volume 4-5 it was a yearly series. 4 and 5 are same year, so I would consider them more together than most and 4 as more of a stepping stone to volume 5. I think volume 5 will be the biggest most crazy thing yet, at least Im hoping!

Nice interview! I'm hyped for Vol. 5 and have a laundry list of wishes for it. The RWBY FNDM has really been amazing and I'm glad to be a part of it.

Really enjoyed this interview!

Love RWBY and share their opinion that it is completely irrelevant whether people call it "anime" or not. Just another mindless semantic debate substituting for actual discussion.

Have some genuine reflections on RWBY itself, but not sure they're totally appropriate here. Guess I'll just say that I think its primary draws are its earnestness, sense of humor, and believable character work (though it falls down in some important examples in this last category). Its animation is also slowly becoming pretty solid, although at the outset of season 1 I admit it looked like something I could have put together in Blender (and I'm a pretty terrible Blender artist Razz ).

The term briefly picked up steam for a while in the early 00s as a way of describing stuff like Avatar: The Last Airbender and Megas XLR. Just like with the term "japanimation" in the 90s, pretty much everyone disliked it, which is why people tend not to use it anymore.

If we go buy the Japanese meaning of "anime" meaning "animation", then RWBY is because the Japanese definition of "anime" is a generic definition (same goes for "manga" meaning "comic").
