Haven't started Vanishing Line yet, but it amuses me how the animated GARO series' start off as these ancient fantasy stories given the live action series started off as a very modern story (basically taking place when it was filmed in 2005/2006).
I have to imagine that might throw off some fans of the anime if they ever give it a shot. Which they can now legally thanks to the first series getting released on Blu Ray (glad I finally have an excuse to rewatch). GARO is definitely an "adult" take on Tokusatsu, but a rather fun one. Not a perfect series by any metric, but has a nice style, and a great horror vibe. Plus, who doesn't like golden lion armored men engaging in deadly sword fights with evil demonic creatures? Plus, Hironobu Kageyama doing both the music (via JAM Project) and voicing Zaruba, the Magic Ring, is always nice. It's definitely a franchise worth delving into (all six live action series, eight live action movies, the Zero Spin Off Series and Mini, plus the animated stuff). |

It's okay, I'm sure there's at least one language where Luke means Gun.
As for Vanishing Line, I'm having a lot of fun with it, which is already a hell of a lot more than I can say for Crimson Moon. That being said, it would be nice to see a bit more of the overarching plot, since as far as I'm aware VL is only 13 episodes to Crest of Fire's 26. |

Without having seen the first two anime (from what I'm picking up, I didn't miss much), but coming from having seen at least the first 4 TV series and many of the accompanying movies/etc, this is a lot closer to the toku than the earlier series are, but seeing Zaruba reduced to a stupid-looking motorcycle is very hard to chew. And for most of the TV series, there's a loose plot running through the episodes, that culminates toward the end, so the up-and-down El Dorado plot doesn't bother me.

the theory is that it's budget related, since in anime it costs the same to do historical/scifi or curent era settings in anime they do the settings that would be too costly to do in live action. |

Honestly, Get over yourself. They are sexy women and proud and confident of themselves. Whats to hate? Also, Vanishing line is supposed to be 24 episodes long like most Garo series tend to be. |

I'm just curious having not seen the previous iterations of GARO, is it okay to start this show and not have to even bother with the first two seasons first?

It's quite fine. Hell, by the time the first anime started, the live action GARO had completed four entire series 25 episodes each, five live action movies, and a 6 episode live action miniseries. It's definitely worth going back and checking out the rest of the various series when you get a chance, but it doesn't hurt to start with Vanishing Line as far as I'm aware. |

It should be fine. In a sense, the shows are all connected since the Makai armor is passed down bloodlines, so I guess the leads are distantly related, and a couple of characters recur, but it's all pretty loose, and nobody refers to other series. Since the topic of sex came up in the article, I know it caught me off guard at first that it wasn't being played for jokes, like German is totally serious about going to brothels for instance, but it made sense. The organization is dependent on bloodlines, and there is obviously a lot of risk in a job fighting monsters, so it seems like a recipe that encourages sex. I am curious to see how heavily Vanishing Line leans on the action scenes. I've definitely found myself impressed by the fights, but that can only carry something for so long. |

Garo: Crimson Moon was the first Garo I've ever seen and I liked that. I tried the first couple episodes of Vanishing Line and I had to put it aside. It reminded me of the old Batman cartoons that I didn't like to watch. I guess I am not a fan of the dark urban, gritty style.
