Armitage III was quite something. While its problematic elements shouldn't be overlooked, it perfectly reiterated the cyberpunk style of 1980s anime despite being released after the OVA boom had peaked and waned.

Great, Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, time to fall into despair once again...
I still wonder why the heck they changed the title to something as random as "rumbling hearts"... couldn't they have used the direct translation from the original title? "The Eternity you Desire"? Or "The Eternal Hope"? What a way to confuse people, really, you'd think the industry would have learned after more than 40 years.

And then you see stuff like "Okami-san and her seven companions", why are they leaving "Okami" as is? Couldn't they change it to "The Wolf"? or simply leave the whole title in Japanese? Geez...

At least Armitage III is left without changes... or not, it should be called "Armitage The Third"? Well, that would be nitpicking, probably...

Elizabeth Berkley did the dubbed voice for Armitage, which I have to be brutally honest at the time in the '90's was one of the reasons I watched it. I was a bit fascinated that someone I grew up watching on a popular sitcom was doing VO work in anime.

I really liked Kimi ga Nozomu Eien at the time and still feel it's a pretty good series to watch through at least once. The OVAs were almost like "alternate endings" of sort which was interesting. I like when series "expand" using OVAs and the like (Clannad did a good job with this also). I never quite understood the blatant title change also.

"Armitage III (OAV)" was followed by "Armitage: Dual-Matrix (movie)" whereas "Armitage III: Poly-Matrix (movie)" was a compilation of the OVA. It doesn't help that the 1st 2 titles had Naomi's voice change in the Japanese and English for each version. Elizabeth was Naomi Armitage in the "Poly-Matrix" version.

Not random at all. âge probably always intended for the English title to be "Rumbling Hearts". It's the title of the main theme song as sung by Minami Kuribayashi, and also the alternate title they used for the Japan-only Playstation 2 all-ages version of the visual novel.

Related: Mitsuki did nothing wrong.

EDIT: For fans of the franchise, check out http://kiminozo.life, home of the ongoing EN fan translation, as well as related stuff like audio dramas, side-stories, etc.

Rumbling Hearts is such a great anime. Can't understand why it never got as popular as Clannad or Kanon.

Kimi ga Nozomu Eien was great the one show that made me tear up when I was younger not sure I'd fancy watching a dubbed version though.

Crunchyroll only gets the sub; the dub stays with Funimation.

FWIW, I think it's a solid dub: Carrie Savage and Colleen Clinkenbeard as Haruka and Mitsuki, respectively, and it was made years before the clichés of the moé era sank in, so the English VAs take a very natural approach… nobody going "uguuu" or any of that.

Surprised people are saying Rumbling Hearts was good. That show was mad trash to me. The only conceivably likable character in that show was Haruka, and that mostly because she was in a coma while her friends and sister were off being terrible.

Mitsuki is easily one of the worst characters I am supposed to feel sorry for.

I second the "surprised people think this is good" part, because... well, I'm not sure how to take this one either.

Whether Mitsuki is terrible for stealing Haruka's boyfriend can always be argued, but on the other hand, where the hell was Haruka's family when the male lead was wasting away in his apartment for a whole year, up to the point where he got a little crazy and did something that REALLY made them go all "please leave us alone forever, and especially Haruka"? Even Akane, whom I thought was the most sensible of the lot.... yeah, I carry no love for this show.
