I'd say the beard episode of Dennou Coil was among the funniest fillers I've seen...

Owee Arc (Gintama)

Isn't it like, calling more than half of Gintama as filler, because Owee Arc was the part of original manga? Very Happy

All the Utena filler revolving around Nanami was great since she's a very entertaining character and it built on to her importance later in the story.

I have mixed feelings on the Black Rose Saga, but it wasn't necessarily bad...just not as good as the other three arcs. The ending is what really made it seem like filler.

Ahhh yes episode 101 of Naruto is definitely an iconic filler episode. Many of my favorite fillers from any anime or live action show are the comedic ones that parody its own work.

For the sake of this column, I'm regarding filler as episodes that are mostly diversions from the main plotline, not strictly unique anime content that doesn't exist in the source material.

There weren't enough good ones that were completely original, huh.

I guess the best one I saw would be the Three-Tailed Turtle arc from Naruto Shippuden. It was plot relevant and had good action, so it works in my book.

It had me bursting out laughing with how funny it was when I first saw it. Freaking lost it with the nonstop silliness. XD

I've always enjoyed Episode 19 of Fairy Tail. It's just a fun episode plus I'm a sucker for body swaps. Gray in Lucy's body is always funny and the ending always gets me laughing.

I can name several great filler episodes of anime, too!

1. Episodes 12, 17, and 39 of Jewelpet Twinkle.
2. Episode 8 of Fancy Lala. (God, the cat episode! It made me cry!)
3. Episode 19 of Popolocrois (1998)

Preach.

I also have an appreciation for Cash Eye from Ghost In The Shell. It had a lighthearted breeziness combined with a cool factor that wasn't normally seen in such a dark and thinky series

Ditto about Cash Eye. For that matter, I liked most of the stand alone GitS TV eps over the plot arc eps. Esp. Tachikoma Runs Away; The Movie Director's Dream ( ep 12 .)

The filler episode that always stuck with me was the Secret of the Shikon no Tama Revealed from Inuyasha. The part at the end where spoiler[Kirara curled up at the foot of the crystallized body of Midoriko] really tugged on my heartstrings.

The next time some fight-serial DBZ or Naruto fan starts complaining about Why Filler Episodes Are The Devil, show them the "Nurse Minako" episode from Sailor Moon R, the "Dragon Cuisine" episode from Slayers Next, and "Mushroom Samba" from Cowboy Bebop. Laughing
I mean, if he hasn't seen the all-time classic filler episodes, well...

Gintama filler? what?

How is that a "filler" episode (this is Gintama we're talking about) when it's from the manga?

I'm against filler, but seeing Sakura in that hot spring during the Kakashi face episode was hot.

The reveal of Kakashi-sensei's face in 2015 was huge news, but when this filler episode aired in 2007

The episode aired in 2004.

Gosh, Lynzee, I'm sure hope everybody reads that line and that no one in the comments section gets confused. Laughing
