I'm sorry, but the narrative in the article is really hard to follow - what exactly did Tanita say, and what did Ogata-san say back? I get that she was upset they implied she was fat, but that's about all I got out of this article.....

I agree. I'm not sure I'm following this correctly. So there was a joke pun on using the word for cruel in Japanese, which can also mean ride/get on, then what? |

To put it short, Tanta for some reason began talking to Megumi Ogata regarding the recent Godzilla anime. Megumi jokingly gave her replies by using lines from her character in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Shinji Ikari, which was one of her most famous roles.
What made it interesting was how long the tweet exchange went and how it eventually went way out of topic, and how Shinji's lines, which originally reflected his anguish in piloting a giant robot, can apparently also be used when referring to the use of Tanta's health products. |

The anime hasn't aired yet. They're talking about the Shin Godzilla movie, as noted in the title of the article and the tweets themselves.

Is it just me or is this just dumb? Reading a article about some silly Twitter fight between a Japanese voice actress and a company that makes medical supplies makes me feel like my I.Q. points went down a little bit. It's this sort of stuff that makes me glad I'm not on anything like Twitter or Facebook. I feel a lot better without that sort of hassle in my life.
