Damn that's one impressive staff list. I just hope it's not some nationalist propaganda like Gate.

This sounds interesting. With Higuchi saying that this project is his dream, I’m curious to see how exactly it will turn out. I wish him and the staff good luck on this and I’ll be sure to check it out when it’s available.

So the story idea is basically Dragonriders of Pern but with the JSDF. That actually sounds like a lot of fun.

Gate was very entertaining and I hope this show turns out as well as that. I didn't care for the portrayal of the US military in Gate but I also think that about many Hollywood movies as well.

Gate never bothered me because we do the same stuff in Hollywood movies. Although its definitely more eyeroll than usual since we provide most of the military equipment and do lots of joint training. So how they would miraculously have Specops that ran circles around the US doesn't make sense.

Even the jets in the series are old F4s made by the US and maybe some F2s which are also based on the F16 and built jointly.

Though looks can be deceiving, the way that dragon thumbnail is drawn, it looks like this would be a show meant for a younger audience.

^^ Indeed. I dunno how I feel about this to be honest. It does look like a kiddie show to me Rolling Eyes

Come on now guys, don't be so shallow. Anime should have taught you at this point that cute and simple designs should arguably make you more uneasy than anything! (Just look at Chirin no Suzu or more recently Made in Abyss).

I actually hope it will be a show for kids. Haven't had many classic children's stories in anime lately.

Whether it's a kid's show or not doesn't really matter to me. By now I think most anime fans should realize that a lot of kid's anime is really great. LWA is a kid's show, for example. Didn't stop that from being a remarkably good time.
And yeah, this staff is loaded as f*ck. Love seeing Kobayashi here directing. His work on Kiznaiver was fantastic and I can't wait to everything else he makes.

This is also true. I adore LWA and I love me a good wholesome family-friendly show/movie as well. I know preferences are what they are but I do think that some anime fans could do with a little loosening up and try to broaden their tastes a bit more. We need a renaissance of the World Masterpiece Theater types of anime. Goro Miyazaki helped contribute with Ronja, maybe this could lead the way to more as well if it does indeed end up being a "kiddie show."

Who cares if its for kids? Boruto & Dragon Ball Super are technically kids' shows, too, and they're great. The staff is incredible!
