They do license them, albeit inconsistently. Probably a rights issue.

I hope so, too. It helps if the OVAs exists by the time Funimation does a physical release, but we're past that point for Drifters. However, it also helps if the OVAs are important to the plot, rather than side-stories, and it looks like that is the case here. They did end up doing a re-release of Future Diary recently with the final episode OVA, even though they did a DVD and later a blu-ray release years ago, so I suppose that is encouraging. Then again, the only way to buy that episode physically is to potentially buy the entire series again, so who knows what the sales will look like?

...Would be more happy had Drifters gone the Hellsing Ultimate route,an OVA every decade or so ( ./s).

Yeah I hope so too. Like you said I think there's a good chance since this is really the next set of main episodes. These are 100% necessary if more continues to be made. I think if the episodes are going to keep coming out like this then they may do it Hellsing Ultimate style and wait for at least two (which this has) at a time so they can do at least a couple together per volume. They'd probably even prefer four per set. As such, these probably wouldn't have been included on the season one set anyway since this is technically the start of "season 2" and I guess it seems likely "singles" may be the release structure going forward if Drifters is going to stay straight to video in Japan like this.

The dub for season 1 was so good, I'm definitely willing to wait for the dub to continue as long as we can get confirmation from Funi that it's coming. Smile
