While there is a price reduction for the boys love market the price is really high in the U.S.. It is probably because of scarce they are since they aren't licensed in the U.S at all. The one book I bought cost me almost 13.00 for one volume. Even for a digital volume it's expensive.

I'm glad the vocaloid business is proving profitable, despite all the speculation that the fandom is dying.

It's not a "novelty" anymore, it just comes down to whether vocaloids, including Miku, still have good hit songs. As it turns out, they do.

Also, because Miku--being non-existent and having not as much ruthless Japanese pop-management to say no--can't turn down a voiceover or corporate tie-in job, she stays fairly visible as a pop-culture celebrity in media ads, and not just at Snow Miku time every winter.

Really 21.9 is not different from 22 for BL.

For romance and otome games, I think otome needs to branch out. The games should be going to PS4 and Switch, and companies like Otomate are at a point where they've just been trying to pump out the same game over and over, but they mess things up so I'm sure that hurts sales a bit too. Otome as a whole was hitting a creative peak from 09 to '12 I think, with fluctuations after. I thought this and last year saw some better titles, but I feel like they also probably get overlooked for not being promoted as heavily as Otomate stuff. I wonder how mobile otome games will change things up though.

Kind of wonder if any of the anime/gaming idols were taken into account for the idol numbers though? I wonder how they would have helped or hurt growth.

Interesting numbers overall. Some of those aren't even that low, but it's also interesting to see economic elements taking their toll.

Great to see vocaloid in the list, and hope it will continue to increase.

Right? Im wondering why they're saying it like it was a huge drop or something.
