Welp, guess have to rewatch the 1st season to refresh my memories. At least the last 4 eps. 3 years gap is way too much for me.

I think the important thing about that scene is how we can see how battered and bruised their bodies are. Shows like this usually shy away from that sort of thing, holding true to the "beauty is never tarnished" trope, but the fighting is taking a clear toll on them.

agreed (that is something I liked in majisuka gakuen too).

The first six episodes have all been released as a set of 3 movies this past year, so it's nothing new for me. Suffice to say it all builds to something great. Looking forward to the second half of the season!

I'm a bit more cautious about that. They said it would be a new story but what more is there to tell? We know the Vertex are a never ending threat and the world outside the barrier is gone, so it's highly unlikely we'd see the heroes defeat the Vertex for good and reclaim the planet. All the big twists have already been revealed so all we might get is an aimless monster of the week show with some SoL fluff inbetween. I wouldn't particularly mind that but it wouldn't add anything new to the franchise.

If only they were adapting NoWaYu instead. That would be amazing.

I wouldn't quite say that... Didn't notice that this generation (currently) has neither faeries nor Mankai gauges? And that the Taisho are operating openly and publically?

And, at least for me, the story doesn't have to be apocalyptic to be interesting.

Taisha has always been operating publically. What exactly they do is what's been kept a secret.

It doesn't have to be apocalyptic I suppose, but ideally sequels should be a step up from what came before. So to go from the big character drama and fate-of-the-world action to something more mundane would be a disappointment. Take Gundam Build Fighters for example. First season had a world tournament with a hidden conspiracy in the background. Second season had a Japan only tournament and nothing else. Needless to say while not bad it wasn't as good.

Watched the movies earlier this year.
The prequel chapters are better than the original season. But I'm looking forward to the sequel episodes.

That would be some feat, given that I haven't seen any sign of that yet and hold the original series in such high regard.

Yeah, I forgot to bring this up, but it's definitely an observation worth mentioning. The first series was like that, too.

That is one way of looking at it, another way is that this is great news and hopefully it will continue throughout season 2.

Was it? When they were at the beach and in the bath they had no visible wounds. Pretty sure their fairies prevent stuff like that from happening.

If you mean the sange, well, that's a bit different from being covered in cuts and bruises.

Have you not been reading KuMeYu? It's a new series that is currently publishing in Japan, and is hinting and what the second season is going to be about.

spoiler[The Taisha actually have found a way to reclaim the land. And there currently a group of girls that are planting seeds that are able to restore the Earth from lava back to greenery. There's been four chapters released so far, and it seems like these seeds are going to lead to somewhere important, and then the Heroes are going go on the offensive outside the walls to get to this place for whatever reason.]

Does anyone know which zodiac sign the Vertex in the second half of ep.2 is based on? The first two look like Aquarius and Libra, is the third one Taurus?

Looking forward to the second half. While I can't say I remember the details, the way the first season ended had quite a bit about the setting left unanswered. Hopefully they touch on those in the upcoming episodes.

It's hard for me to judge this vs S1 and I do not think that mentality does this any service. Washio and Yuuna's chapter are so close together, with Washio being released a few months before YuYuYu S1 aired, but clearly serving as the support story of the latter, that I cannot turn the holistic mode off to judge things individually. In fact, after all the slice of life manga and VN scenarios from the last 3 years, I have trouble even thinking of the original team spoiler[without Sonoko], which is clearly not intuned with the average viewer's perception of the Washio Sumi cast.

But anyway, about Washio Sumi itself, it offers a far smaller and more simple cast, but the moments are sweet, and they give even more context to what is to come later. One thing I like about it is the presence of adults, something the first series avoided to the point of bothering me. I can definitely understand why the staff has decided its a story that must be told in anime format before the series moves beyond to its S2 and a very likely beyond (considering the currently nice pre-order rankings...)

Taurus is the bell one from YuYuYu episode 5 (Inspired by the brass bull, as the vertex follow a torture device motif)
