I'm surprised. I haven't read the manga, but I always heard Juri was straight there.
Looking forward to this, and seeing what manga Shiori will be like.

I just remember from the anime most of the relationships were all kinds of against the status quo. Risque in the 90's, but wouldn't bat an eye in 2017.

The anime was that way, but the manga was the exact opposite. Nearly everyone was straight there compared to how nearly everyone was bisexual in the anime. But it seems this one-shot is taking place in anime canon, or at least something close to it.

That's odd, never knew there was this difference. I want to ask why there's such a difference, but I believe I read somewhere that it was the director's call for the majority of the changes in the characters' sexualities and he had to actually be reigned in to not make the more extensive changes he wanted to make. In fact, the Utena movie is what the show might have been if he hadn't been reigned in and for that I'm definitely thankful.

Saito disagreed with Ikuhara and the anime staff on what a shojo story should be, so she used her manga adaptation to tell Utena the way she wanted to. As a result, the Utena manga is a very different beast. It has its own unique plotline and the characters personalities and relationships with each other are very different.
Reigning Ikuhara in for the series was the right call, but I do feel they were a little too strict with him at times. Part of the reason he went so crazy with the movie was they wouldn't let him do things as minor as have Utena and Anthy kiss in the series.
