I have to admit, this makes me a bit nervous. Sato's involvement in the original series is what made it so great, in my opinion. But I will still be watching the sequel, regardless!

That doesn't sound so hot. If they announce that Yoshihiro Ike (who usually works with Satou) will not be doing the music, I'll start to be concerned.

Keiichi Sato is working with Mappa now so it's a given that he wouldn't be working on the Tiger & Bunny sequel since that's a Sunrise anime. Or I might be saying a load of bullsh*t since I don't know how stuff works in the anime industry, but alas the fact remains that he's not going to be the director.

Fingers crossed that whoever the new director is can do a good job and deliver something on par with the first season and movies.

Wow. I was not expecting this. What's the point now if the OG's aren't working on this.

Ike was my thought after reading this.

Man, that is... deeply alarming, to put it nicely. What is with Japan and not bringing back the brains behind popular series to work on the sequels?

Satou is a freelancer, there's no reason why he wouldn't be allowed to work on this. I think it's more like that the producers want to be 100% sure that this show turns out how they want it to turn out, so they're looking for someone cheaper and/or easier to handle than Satou (who is something of a free spirit). Well that, or there's something more personal going on behind the scenes.

I'll wait until I see who his replacement is before I begin to panic, but it's definitely disappointing he's not returning.

I hope they at least use his idea for a sequel as a basis to work from.

Well, there's this fact. SUNRISE will not be producing this sequel, since the I.P was transferred to their sister/sub-studio Bandai Namco Pictures, which focuses on child friendly shows, together with all kid/family oriented shows previously fron sunrise. So that being said, new studio, new workplace, new staff, new people and new sequel. Although, it makes me worrisome that satou, the original original director , wont be back and what's more, his idea for season 2 was turned down.

Often the main brains behind an anime (the muscle is obviously the many overworked and underpaid animators) are the director and script writer (singular). The 1st TV series had 7 screenwriters. If we had 1 main screenwriter for the 1st series and they returned, we might have some consistency. However, us regular folk don't know yet if any of those 7 will return. The lack of the original directors for the TV and movie versions doesn't bode well to me.

Rough start. I'm thinking of another director/studio that was booted from another project, albeit for different reasons, but I'm worried in both places.

So is it safe to say that this new continuation will not have anything to do wit the cliffhanger, and be completely different??
