Still can't believe they didn't choose Yami Yugi. He's Yugioh. The Game King. No one else deserves to mascot these games more than him.

As I expected, children picked the mascots that looks like they're from a cookie cutter children's TV anime, and likely with no regard to the lame rationale of inspiration as a "mix of traditional and futuristic design elements." The middle ones aesthetically look the best, especially the Maneki Neko, and represent both the traditional and modern kawaii culture of Japan beautifully. I bet they could've won if it was up to the general public.

The whole preparation for the 2020 Summer Olympics has been a disaster. The national stadium's architecture was changed from a magnificent piece of art worthy to stand next to 1964's Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, to what looked like a giant bicycle helmet or animal skull, and finally boorish and drab ramshackle of a donut. Roads already earmarked for construction decades back can't be constructed on time because of the relocation delay of Tsukiji fish market. Also, the former logo was scrapped because of its coincidental resemblance to something else whose creator threatened to sue. Looking on the bright side, London's preparation was far worse, and don't even talk about Rio. I also suppose it will instill pride in the Japanese people for the years afterwards, while London has been nothing but misery with all the events since 2012.

Better than the London 2012 ones, that's for sure.

Ah London 2012. I miss those times. The UK is in such a terrible place now it isn't funny. Thanks Dave.

Hey, I like Izzy! I collect memorabilia of him, and that's where I got my childhood nickname!

I'm upset Iwatobi-chan wasn't chosen as the Olympic mascot...
That lumpy, coconut-coloured sphere of a head that represents the world.
Those beady, empty eyes that stare into the depths of your soul, questioning the purity of your Olympic ideals.

PS. That was a joke, of course I'd choose A or B.

You don't seems to like Olympic sport do you ? Actually all the infrastructure of London 2012 are still being used today. London has successfully converted its Olympic venues by adapting its infrastructure, including the former athletes' village. I know that because us French and mostly Paris look at cities who succeed at converting olympic venues for public usage. So I'm not worried about Japan to succeed theirs ever.

I wish I could afford to go to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympics. Sad
I'm saving for a trip but it doesn't look like it will happen at this point.

Nobody can be worse than Blair. Also, London was selected during his term.

Give it some time. Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Stratford City will be London's next slums. The architecture is ugly and the buildings will fall apart, even worse than past planning failures.
