I know SM is officially canon in the anime. That said, they should probably change their minds and just write off Sun & Moon as Ash and Pikachu’s shared dream when it ends. Yes, I know it will probably anger a lot of fans, but I just want Ash’s Black & White/XY designs back for the eventual season based on the upcoming Switch game.
Don’t get me wrong. I like Sun & Moon's look, as it fits the tropical setting. I just think it would be funny to see Pikachu and Ash (in their XY designs) wake up in Kanto and realize their Alola adventures were all a dream.

That sounds ridiculous. Whether you like the new series or not, it still makes its mark on the canon. I'm not necessarily a huge fan of it, but even I would not find that funny. That's a lot of time and side character development to dedicate to a joke.

Very true. Not to mention the classic prime time soap opera Dallas tried that exact same thing in the 1980's, and it made a lot of the show's fans furious. My mother used to watch that show, and when she found out that the entire 9th season was Pam Ewing's dream, she felt insulted.

While Veronica Taylor will always be the best Ash to me, I have to say Ash's second VA has really improved a lot in these recent Pokemon dubbed episodes and movies.

oh they definitely have. even the new SM cast met the original DIC cast members who are still alive.
regardless, its probably too little too late for this series. for one thing, the disney viewers have probably watched the series online already via a fansub website.
so don't be surprised if the viewership for the season premiere of sun and moon is even worse than XY's viewership.
