This show came at a perfect time considering how FREAKIN' COLD it is now. Anime hyper

This almost makes want to grab cup of hot chocolate and a cinnamon bun while learning the ways of winter camping by watching this show.

This anime is so relaxing. I'm really enjoying it while snuggling inside a warm blanket and comfy bed before sleeping. Anime catgrin Anime catgrin Anime catgrin

I've enjoyed many slice-of-life shows, but this one lacks a sufficiently compelling story line to hold my interest. I'll probably stick with A Place Further than the Universe because it has the going-to-Antarctica plot, but watching girls drink cocoa and stare at Mount Fuji isn't enough for me.

Fun show, definitely relaxing. I like that Rin is staying a loner and didn't just join the club, its annoying when every loner character is always secretly hoping to get friend, some people are fine being alone and that's okay.

Also, one-chan, you the real MVP.

This show hits the same careful balance between mundanity and sentimentality that I loved about Hidamari Sketch. As far as iyashikei go, I think balancing those two tonal aspects is the most important thing for me. While I love Kozue Amano's work, I think it definitely suffers from an excess of sentiment, where something like Flying Witch is almost too grounded to be emotionally potent. Really glad to be watching this.

After episode 3 of both shows, I'm unexpectedly finding myself preferring Yuru Camp over A Place Further than the Universe. I've never really thought about it before, but I guess that when given the choice, I'd rather have a slice-of-life show that is consistently laid back and tranquil like Non Non Biyori than one in which the characters are energetically pursuing some goal like the K-On movie.

As entertaining as this is,I will forever be disappointed that it's not a camp-themed season of Yuru Yuri...

I agree with you wholeheartedly on all points. As a loner myself, I love that they are letting Rin be an introvert, and I was so surprised Nadeshiko's sister actually stayed with her all night long in the car!

This show without a doubt has been my biggest surprise of this young season. I have not had this much fun with a CGDCT show probably since Non Non Biyori. I hope to see all five girls camping together soon.

Oh, how I looove this show.

As an introvert who enjoys noticing every little things in life, plus nature, it's just my kinda show.

I just like the way the show is so low profile or well, laid-back, in its story and direction. One of the delights in a slice of life offering is how we get to realize how these little humble things often overlooked in life, are really beauties worth more of our appreciation.

I like every quiet moments when Rin prepare her camp, with only the sound of her steps or rustling leaves heard, accompanied by a non-intrusive laid-back scoring. I appreciate how things are generally not rushed, that the scene in the third episode where Nadeshiko walked throughout the field and camping site trying to find Rin, observing some places, are captured quite patiently.

Overall, this show inspires me to go out there and enjoy the solitude of embracing the nature.

Quite a comfy show all round. Anime smallmouth Good timing as well since it’s getting cooler around here and the show’s setting is quite relaxing to watch. I’ve seen some (extremely unfair) comparisons on the internet between this show and Flying Witch which, quite frankly, is going about it the wrong way. The way this show goes about its calming and laid-back direction (that is quite good at) is different from Flying Witch’s way of storytelling. But I don’t want to dwell too much on that comparison (which shouldn’t have happened to begin with) and say that I like the way this show is so chill.

$20 a night seems kinda steep for winter season camping. And not much in the way of amenities either. On the other hand, $10 for a new tent is sketchy - must be made of match-sticks and tissue paper. Smile

It's adorable the way Nadeshiko is worming her way into Rin's tiny, loner heart...

Just as a heads up: the first three volumes of the Yuru Camp manga are up for pre-order on Amazon. I've seen a few scanned pages online, and from what I can tell, the art is fairly impressive.

Laid Back Camp has definitely become my favorite anime of the season that isn't a sequel. I love how charming and comforting it is and the characters are all cute and likeable. The animation is also surprisingly impressive and I like they actually do talk quite a bit about camping. Overall it's a very sweet show to accompany the colder winter weather we're having and it even started snowing here last week. While I enjoy both shows, I also would have to say I prefer Laid Back Camp over A Place Further Than The Universe. Both shows are good but I just like the more grounded nature of Laid Back Camp.
