And just like Fairy Tail it will be trash due to all the fan service he'll shoehorn into it just so to appeal to preteens.

I'm excited, I liked Fairy Tail so I'll probably like this too. I just hope people actually give it a chance and don't just do what people are already saying and assuming it's bad because of their opinion on Fairy Tail's story.

With the way the original FT manga ended, I was hoping for a sequel. Looking forward to that.
Now just waiting to hear what the new series will be about. Not 100% sure I'll check it out. May spend some time and money going backwards to check out Rave Master instead.

At least it’s not pandering to shonen characters who are curtailed to pointless archetypes and try to play the same genre just to make it sound original. ( *coughs* Black Clover *cough* *cough* Seven Deadly Sins).

While the last third or so of FT was complete and utter ass, it didn't kill my love for the series so I'll give this a shot. But that's only if its about Team Natsu on the Century Quest and exploring the continent.
If It's a next gen story like Boruto, I'll have less than zero interest in it and avoid it like the plague.

Sometimes I really want some unknown series to get popular. And sometimes I wish, Fairy Tail just wasn't -_-

I REALLY hope the spin-off will be about Lucy's journey to find Aquarius' key and the two of them reuniting at last. Seriously, that's one thing with the finale that I wish was explored because it was such a strong moment for me in the manga that I wanted to see happen. And I'll take a guess that the sequel will either be about some of the adventures on the hundred year quest, or it'd be featuring the kids. I wouldn't mind something featuring the kids, given how much fans had fallen in love with Mashima's ideas for the kids. Granted, we already know Gajeel and Levy's kids from the one light novel, but I'd love to explore more with Natsu and Lucy's daughter and Gray and Juvia's son. Maybe the kids idea would be better as a short spin-off, though.
Either way, I look forward to the new work and whatever he might continue to do with Fairy Tail. People may dislike it for numerous (and often valid) reasons, but I really love the series and want to see more of my favorite wizards. >w<

Seven Deadly Sins has proven time and time again to be more compelling than Fairy Tail ever was. SDS doesn’t pretend that it’s characters aren’t archetypes. It embraces the conventional tropes and uses an entertaining story to shift the paradigm on where those certain characters can go. It’s not exactly subversion, but it does let us see these “archetypical” characters in interesting arcs.
But anyways, I am looking forward to Mashima’s next work because he’s clearly a decent writer (when he wants to be). He just needs to dial down on the fan service and be confident in his story making so that he’s not always retconning decisions.

I wonder what compells people to click on a thread for something related to a series they "dislike" and then leave dumb comments.

Looking forward to it. After over a decade of disliking pretty much all shonen fanservice manga, Fairy Tail was the first one I ever really found myself enjoying. Normally, I have trouble getting past the ladies' ridiculous racks, but for some reason I ended up really caring about the characters in this one.
