The film manga will retail for $13.95 and will cover the first 2 episodes of the TV series.

This is cool and everything, but I really have no use for animanga or film manga.

You know what I'd honestly rather see? I'd like to see COLORED versions of the actual manga. Have some professional colorists come in and release manga in colored regular graphic novel/comic size form.

I wouldn't pay money to buy the current Bebop mangas in colour or in a larger format. I also won't risk my money on a new series in a large colour format either.

The film books may be a bit of a money-grab, but at least you know that the story and the art will be good.

Actually, I rather see neither of either versions, and instead prefer some newer properties than TOKYOPOP wasting time and effort on this. They lost alot of CLAMp properties as of late, shouldn't they at least replace them with some newer properties?

Certain manga already have select color pages in them anyway. Just fill the rest of them in, bleh :p .

And you're saying that they're not getting new properties? Look over at Dragon Head and Beck, which are a lot better than the two clamp title they lost (Tsubasa and Xxxholic).

Seem like DR is getting all the Kodansha title (which can also be bad because they might be limited to Kodansha title), thus from what I heard TP will trying to get more excellent title but they might not be as well known.

I must be the only person in the world who doesn't understand the appeal of "film manga." Isn't it just a comic version of the anime? With still frames, speech bubbles on the pictures, no voices and no music? I'm a big fan of Bebop but I just can't see the reason to publish or buy such a thing. (I'd rather see a book adaptation of the show. Or better, a novel about the backstory...)

You're kidding right? Anime fans don't like this because they've already seen it and it's been blasted countless times on this forum. If you've been around the forums you would definitely know you're not the only one. These appeal either to the hardcore die hard fan, comic fans or the people who never seen the anime or has any interested in watching anime. Basically this might not appeal to the casual anime fan.

You're also talking about two different format. You're assuming that everyone who enjoy comic/manga are also into anime. There are a lot of hardcore comic fan that want nothing to do with anime. These seem to sell well at comic store however.

And finally, sometimes a manga adaption just suck. Looking at the cowboy bebop/shooting star manga. The cine-manga might actually be better than the manga (ironic) for those who are interested in comics and not anime.

Ah, so that's how it is. (I don't really visit other parts of this forum, so I don't know what's going on there, but most everyone around me loves this kind of stuff.)

Btw, I didn't assume anything, I just said I didn't get why film manga is so great. I know many people who are into comics but not cartoons/anime, but to imagine shows like Bebop without the music and the voices... It'd lose a lot of its appeal and style.

Yes, I mention the cowboy bebop manga release by TP lost a lot of its appeal. I don't have to imagine it.

And yes you can say it's a cashcrop, but looking at the anime fandom as a whole, everything is turn into merchandise when you have Naruto pin and FMA soap.
