Based on the first episode, Aaron Dismuke might not be as intense as Horikawa or Miyano, but he has a commanding, youthful confidence to his performance. He's pretty good as Reinhard. I was quite pleasantly surprised. He's really grown. The rest of the cast thus far is also acceptable (I'll have to wait on some of them, though). Though this IS the third pronunciation of the name "Kircheis" I've heard (the JP version's, the English audiobook, and now this).

I hope Funimation sells the Blu-Rays for a decent price. I'm still in a tizzy over Sentai's price tag for the original. I want to at least have one affordable version of LoGH. I mean, besides the novels (already getting those).

So, people are still saying that Sentai's LoGH set is expensive, even though they are asking for about $5 per episode. But I do wish Sentai had divided their release in 3-4 parts because anime fans apparently don't have credit cards to be able to drop $800 at once.

Some of us are fiscally responsible enough that we don't dump more on a credit card than we can pay off at once. And some of us think that no matter what the payment, dropping almost a grand on a cartoon in one go is sheer lunacy.

That aside, I'm kind of curious what this sounds like. Ian Sinclair isn't remotely the sort of voice that comes to mind when thinking of Yang.

He basically sounds like a less flamboyant Whis. I'm not thrilled, but he's only had about one line thus far, so I reserve judgement.

I thought he sounded more like Ryner Lute if he was a little more interested in his surroundings

I am going to have to start watching this after the "Darling" simuldub finishes because I am watching a lot of anime this season.

The director, Brittany Lauda, said on Twitter that her German-speaking uncle helped her come up with a pronunciation guide for the show, so I suppose we can ASSUME it's pretty accurate?

I think Dismuke will be pretty great as Reinhard, I'm really glad he's one of FUNi's leading men these days, but it is going to be a challenge to match up to Miyano's performance. Honestly, the casting decision that weirds me out the most is Ian Sinclair as Yang. He's a good actor and I'll 100% give him the benefit of the doubt, but even disregarding the seiyuu's voice, Yang strikes me as the type of character who'd be played by someone like Johnny Yong Bosch or something.

so far thoughts on the first episode dub it works. as for Sinclair as Yang he works for what is needed JYB is to energetic for Yang (remember his life goal is for a quick end to the war so he can live off his Pension).
